I lost my grandmother Darlene in 1991. I know she would be very proud of this moment and would have never expected anything like this. I love that she was a big dreamer and literally, the sky was the limit.

Congrats to my mother and her sisters, Teri and Tina. They were all present at the award ceremony that took place at the US Capital this week. This is my grandmother Darlene:

PS. Darlene met her husband, Art Eno who was my first inspiration for photography. He helped my photography career in a big time way, introducing me to slide film and all manual camera equipment. He believed in my passions as I was developing my skills as a photographer and encouraged me to take risks!

Natalia + Justin's wedding was exceptionally memorable, it's one of those weddings where you have the perfect combination of everything: incredibly full of joy, family love, emotion, excitement and lots of fun!

Happy people, TONS of true love!! TONS of great images to cherish forever..

Going back in time, here's another wedding I just found under Matt's belt.

His ability to make great compositions + the use of creating lighting never cease to amaze me.

Brent and Tracy's wedding was at the Royal playa, this is not an easy location to shoot, lighting can get tricky.., but Mr. Flash Flavor genius did an amazing job.

Here's another wonderful event that wasn't blogged yet. Brittany and Chris wedding was in Atlanta GA, US in one of the most gorgeous historic homes of the city. The Swan House at the Atlanta History Center has to be one of the most classic venues we have worked at.

Matt flew back to his home town accompanied by Vincent and they also had the help of Cathi, our Atlanta associate.

Here's a bride that totally deserves big KUDOS for the best attitude on her wedding day

As I was reviewing Christina + Daniel's wedding couldn't stop and think "This is a couple that REALLY knows what a wedding should be all about" Marring the Love of your life, rain or shine I DO!".., ZERO fricking out because the weather is going wild.

No one was prepared, no umbrellas., nothing.. and that includes our all star photographers Vincent and Jon, that kept working at their best!

Great job documenting their ceremony, under the rain.

The moment Christina and her father started to walk down the aisle, mother nature sent down her blessing with rain, lots and lots of rain..

Here is a retroactive blog post from 2009...just wanting to get a little "couple loving" out there for V-day!

This wedding was at the awesome Secrets Maroma Hotel. We have done very little shooting there actually and enjoyed seeing the property again. For me, it was my first time shooting there!

Dianne + Ryan actually eloped and planned for ZERO guests to attend, just a private evening on the beach with words of matrimony.... However, as outgoing as they were, they met up with lots of people at the resort prior to their wedding and befriended them. These folks attended the ceremony, dressed to kill, as always :)

For my photographer amigos checking out this blog.... this was only 2 hours of coverage. WOW, when was the last time you shot a wedding, only 2 hours of shooting....

Last weekend we took sunday off and decided to go swimming to both a cenote and the ocean. I had my underwater gear and enjoyed my self relaxing taking photos.

It is an amazing experience to see nature at its best, in an enviroment not many people have the fortune to explore, it was beautiful to see the light playing with shapes and textures as it makes its way down to the deeps, and I also made new friends!!

Here a few of my favorite images:

Every couple is different and we really put our hearts, souls and the best gear in the planet (literally we pack lots and lots of high end camera equipment) to give them amazing photography.

Karen and Charles were a relaxed and fun couple, the underwater part was a challenge (as it is for everybody!!) but they totally trusted us and after a few couple of hours trying (just kidding.. jeje..) we got some really cool shots

A full day of adventure! Thanks SO much to Karen and Charles for allowing us to work, another day in paradise.

We just received a wonderful email from Karen (they haven't seen the TTD!!!)

Hola Sol y Matt!

This is long overdue but we wanted to send you a HUGE thank you for capturing those precious moments from our wedding day as well as opening our hearts and minds to the beauty that the Mayan Riviera has to offer when you go off the beaten path. Our TTD session was an experience we will never forget!

When we decided to do a destination wedding we made a conscious decision to spend what we needed to in order to ensure that we would have beautiful and amazing photos as reminders of our special day. We spent countless hours on the internet searching for just the right photographer and when we came across del Sol photography - we knew you guys were the ones. We were blown away by the passion both you exuded... it's a rare find to meet people like you who clearly love to do what they do! Your enthusiasm and love of photography made our time with you that much more enjoyable.

We also wanted to commend you on the customer service we received from the moment we established contact. Your response time and willingness to answer ALL of our questions (and there were many!) helped us feel comfortable even though we would not be able to meet face-to-face until the day of the wedding. Kudos to you and your entire team for making our experience a truly comfortable one.

The slideshow of our wedding day is AWESOME and INCREDIBLE... we couldn't have asked for better. As we watch each picture appear on the computer screen - we are transported back to that exact moment in time. And that feeling was what we were hoping for when we chose you guys... and boy did you deliver! We're waiting with bated breath for the TTD pictures :)

Our experiences with you are an integral part of the memories we have of our week in Mexico... we will not hesitate to sing your praises at every opportunity.

WOW, I am absolutely speechless, I am sooooo glad I made the decision to do this!!!!!!!!

The work is amazing, I really appreciate everyone's hard work. Matt, you have no idea the comments we are getting from family members and friends we have emailed these images to....especially ones that were weary of me "trashing" my dress!!!

I remember the morning we woke up after the wedding to do the shoot, Brad said, "Do we reaaallly have to do this..? SORRY for the delay in posting. Since the new year started, we have been working, traveling and playing catch up from our trip to Argentina. We traveled almost 25,000 kilometers and have about 26,000 emails to answer :)

I wanted to post a wedding we shot recently at Ceiba del Mar. This hotel is one of our favorites here in the Riviera Maya. Marshall+ Kaory's event was nothing short of amazing! We are shooting another big wedding there tomorrow!!!

Pre-Wedding
Choosing a photographer was very difficult for me. I had already determined that I would allot a large portion of the budget for photos because in the end they are what you have to remember your day. I did A LOT of research on photographers, I canandrsquo;t even tell you how many online galleries I went through over and over, but I was always drawn back to Del Sol, for so many reasons. I originally booked Diego one of their associate photographers for the wedding and Sol for the TTD. But right around my wedding date Diego actually left Del Sol, so Matt covered my wedding, which was the best wedding gift I could have ever gotten! The whole Del Sol team was great to work with leading up to the wedding, I know how busy they are in the spring and summer but they always made sure to answer my emails and even my phone calls. About my wedding time they added an office manager, Melissa who absolutely rocks, she will make sure you have all your stuff in order before, during and after your wedding; it was great to have a contact to go to with questions.

Wedding
The wedding was at 4pm, and Matt arrived in the lobby about 1.5 hours before, his associate photographer went to shoot the boys who were playing pool in the bar near the gazebo. Matt arrived and was a breath of fresh air, it had been a CRAZY morning due to some issues with the Apple Vacations rep... Matt arrived, very excited and started shooting away, I really had no plan for locations to shoot, etc. But Matt had it all under control, he made me feel so at ease and confident, he even tried to get all the girls to smile and laugh, he was great, my grandmother thought he was the cutest thing ever. It was about 8 million degrees on the wedding day, and I am pretty sure I sweated off all my makeup, but Matt managed to make me look amazing in his photos, they shot from all different angles and really captured those moments that I didnandrsquo;t even think about, moments that you didnandrsquo;t even realized happened until you look at your photos, these are the best moments.
After the ceremony we headed to the saltwater pool to take some group shots. They turned out amazing, even though it was super windy. I had a few requests for traditional shots and Matt got them all, he even captured an amazing arial shot, which was the one thing I wanted since I started planning the wedding, it is now printed huge and on the wall in my living room. The bridal party and the hubby and I then just headed down the beach, stopping along the way to grab drinks and just celebrate, then Nathan and I broke off to take some photosandhellip;.I donandrsquo;t know how he does it but Matt seemed to capture Nathan and I in are usandrdquo; moments. I really wanted some photos with the sunset, and evening light such a beautiful backdrop for photos, and of course Matt delivered. These are some of my favorite photos, so romantic I am serious when I say my heart still skips when I look at these particular shotsandhellip;
Matt and Rodrigo (who was also very sweet) stayed through the dance; Matt charmed the pants off my Grandma. He made sure to get shots of her reading the poem that my Grandpa wrote for her when he was in Vietnam, my mom read this poem at our ceremony, I am glad he did this, they are photos that we will always have of that momentandhellip;
Matt is so talented it is ridiculous, I could go on and onandhellip;

Post Wedding
Ahhh. The day the pictures arrived. I sat at my desk frozen; I couldnandrsquo;t wait to see themandhellip; I started clicking through the slideshow and tears filled my eyes. It literally felt like I was back in Mexico, on my wedding day..The pictures just brought me right back there. I clicked thorough them hundreds of times, just cryingandhellip;. My eyes glued to the screen. They were so beautiful and indescribable and you could just feel the moments through themandhellip;.they were priceless. They still give me the goosebumps when I look through them. I forwarded the link to EVERYONEandhellip; peoples comments were the best to hear, most of them commented they were the most beautiful photos they had ever seen, I still get compliments about them 6 months later. I had an at home reception in August after our June wedding and Del Sol worked so hard to get me my photos by then so I could display them. I had 8x10andrsquo;s everywhere and people were just awed, they would just gather around the picture area, jaws dropped. Wow was pretty much the general consensus. I would just smile and say I knowandhellip;.andrdquo;

So you can about gather from this review what my thoughts are on Del Solandhellip;.Best decision I made about the wedding (besides the groom) Honestly they will deliver, your photos will be amazingandhellip;and you wonandrsquo;t worry about a thing. The talent Matt and Sol possess is truly a gift, and they are so consistent in their work, this is reassuring for brides. Do not hesitate; donandrsquo;t think twice, the Del Sol Team is the way to goandhellip;

Holidays are always a good reason to travel and be with the family, this year we went back to the US to see Matt's family.

My eyes are always drawn to nature wherever I go, I enjoyed this few days so much!
