My late grandmother, Darlene Eno was a dreamer, that is for sure! This week, she was posthumously awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for her service in WW II. These Women Air Force Service Pilots were not considered part of the military until 1977...33 years later, they are awarded the with this awesome recognition. I'm so very proud of this achievement and words can't describe how cool this is for my family!
I lost my grandmother Darlene in 1991. I know she would be very proud of this moment and would have never expected anything like this. I love that she was a big dreamer and literally, the sky was the limit. Congrats to my mother and her sisters, Teri and Tina. They were all present at the award ceremony that took place at the US Capital this week. This is my grandmother Darlene:
Darlene made headlines and was featured in the Florida Today Newspaper. You can also read about my mom's story about this special event. Congrats to all WASP's and thank you for your service!
PS. Darlene met her husband, Art Eno who was my first inspiration for photography. He helped my photography career in a big time way, introducing me to slide film and all manual camera equipment. He believed in my passions as I was developing my skills as a photographer and encouraged me to take risks!
This photo of Art goes way back in time, where he is obviously way too cool. Art was also a pilot in WWII.
This is my mom holding the award with her two siters, my Aunt Teri and Aunt Tina (from L-R).
Way cool moment! MUCH LOVE! Mateo
