So you’re invited to a destination wedding in Cancun. You arrive, you hit the beach and grab a margarita. Then you get dressed up for the ceremony and grab another margarita… Mosey over to the ceremony, sit down as the bride and groom will usually just read their vows while you sip away. Maybe they’ll include a candle ceremony or pour tons of sand into jars to symbolize unity.

This all changed at Tiffany and Justin’s wedding. They decided to both celebrate their unity while enjoying a drink with a “Unity Cocktail”! We’ve seen a lot of ways to proclaim love for each other and join two people. But a Unity Cocktail is a unique and fun way to do it!

“We decided to do the unity cocktail for a few reasons. First, Justin and I aren’t extremely religious. We’re more relaxed and wanted to do something that represented us a little better. We both love a good cocktail and entertaining so a unity cocktail was more up our alley. Secondly, getting married on the beach we thought a unity candle would have been difficult with the breeze and the sand ceremony in the luggage could have just been a mess!” – Tiffany

Matt, the best man  gave a heartfelt speech and Tiffany,  the matron of honor, and Valerie’s sister, busted out a rap instead of a traditional speech (which we’re waiting for the video to go viral).  Her younger sister was SUPER pregnant and couldn’t come to the wedding. That didn’t stop her from throwing on her bridesmaids dress on and attended virtually thanks to Apple Facetime.

“My younger sister couldn’t make it to the wedding because she was 30 weeks pregnant with twins. She couldn’t fly on the plane, but she face timed me that day while I was getting ready. She was in her bridesmaids dress, crying! But she “sat” right next to me as I got my makeup done.” – Tiffany

They also let us know a quote from each other’s vows that really touched them:

“I promise to create a house hold that is filled with laughter, love, and understanding and value our family more than anything else.” – Justin

“You truly complete me and make me a better person. If I could give you one thing in life, I  would give you the ability to see yourself through my eyes. Only then would you see how special you are to me.” – Tiffany

“We loved our wedding day! Yes, it was extremely warm, but we wouldn’t have traded it for the world! Our guests were great and stuck with us through the heat of the day.”

“Once the sun went down it was even more beautiful, there was an amazing sunset that evening! We got the group together when the fireworks went off which everyone really enjoyed.”

“We picked the Hard Rock because it seemed to have a little something for everyone in our group. Music, fun by the pool, drinks and an AMAZING beach. If you wanted some peace and quite there was that too. They really treated us and our guests  like Rockstars as well. The resort also had a good balance of being an overall great resort as well as many options for the wedding. A lot of other resorts seemed to have one or the other.”

Thanks for letting us use these beautiful words and for the wonderful testimonial for Sol’s sister, Sara Tamargo.  She has been doing makeup and hair for many of our clients over the years we always touched with such sweet words about Sol’s sister and her amazing team.   Sara is super close to us and we thank you for your love.

We used Sara Tamargo for makeup for the bridesmaids and they did my hair and makeup. LOVE them! I actually used them because I saw Del Sol shot a lot with them and the makeup aways looked flawless.

We really appreciate when our couples let us know they love their pictures, there is a whole team of talented artists behind each portfolio and it means the world to us to hear awesome words like these, thanks Tiffany :)

“One word…LOVE! We are so pleased with these! Martina killed it, she was so great! Jhankarlo too! Thank you and your team again for capturing our wedding day!”

We loved some of the photos so much that we decided to include the “Unity Ceremony” on our collection about 5 alternative destination wedding unity ceremony ideas and  wedding day alcohol
