Hard Rock Riviera Maya Beach Wedding – Brandi and Jubba

A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.  – Proverbs 31:10
“The Wife of Noble Character describes who Brandi is, who she wants to be, and who she will be.” – Jubba

Weddings are unique collections of words, traditions, family legacy, love… the practical upshot of which is often a tearful ceremony and a great party to follow! We love photographing traditions from different cultures that can be incorporated in a ceremony, Brand and Jubba included one of our favorites:

“Jumping the Broom” is an important tradition in many African American families.  The ceremony dates back to slavery when there wasn’t an ordained officiant made available for slaves to perform a wedding ceremony because it was illegal for them to get married.  Slaves would jump the broom to make the nuptials official within their own community.  We perform the act of jumping the broom today to pay homage to our ancestors whom for centuries were unable to officially marry under the law of the land. – Brandi

Brandi and Jubba also paid homage to the loved ones by laying roses on reserved seats on the front row at their ceremony. We would like to honor these important family members by sharing Brandi and Jubba’s words, we are so thankful that they shared their thoughts with us:

One of the toughest things for any child to endure is to be without their parents on their most important life moments.  Nothing is bigger than a wedding and because both of my parents have passed on, it was extremely important to honor them this way.  Their presence was definitely felt. – Jubba

The reserved seat on the my side was in honor of my eldest sister, Sheri. In the months before she passed away, I remember her telling me that she was fervently praying for God to send my husband. Two months after she passed, I met Jubba. I know that Sheri’s prayers was instrumental in bringing Jubba and I together and I am incredibly thankful. It was important for me to acknowledge her on that day and I know she was with us in spirit. – Brandi

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and your wedding day with us Brandi and Jubba! It means the world to us to allow us to be a part of your love story. It means the world to hear such wonderful words:

Working with the del Sol team was AMAZING! Our photographer Martina was professional, patient and fun, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

As a brown-skinned African American woman, it was important for me to see photos of people with dark complexions in the photographer’s portfolio. So when I stumbled upon the del Sol Photography website and found Martina’s stunning photos of a brown-skinned couple, I fell in love and I knew right then that I wanted her to shoot our wedding. I was blown away by Martina’s talent—her photographic technique, her creative use of light and shadows and her overall ability to capture the beautiful hues of the bride and groom’s brown skin. I felt confident that Martina could deliver the gorgeous shots that I wanted of Jubba and I on our wedding day. – Brandi
