The Grand Hyatt – A luxury beach resort in the heart of Playa del Carmen
The heart of Playa del Carmen is its famous 5th Avenue, a cosmopolitan shopping and dining strip that runs parallel to the beach-bar lined white sand and turquoise waters The Riviera Maya is known for. But if you’re looking to enjoy 5th avenue while staying in a luxury resort, you can expect a 15 minute drive or more to between them (and while still short, when it comes to your precious vacay time, this can make a big difference in deciding your daily activities).
You won’t have to make this choice when staying at the new Grand Hyatt though thanks to its unbelievable location. You’ll find it at the center of 5th Avenue, just between the famous strip and directly on the beach. The hotel was designed by acclaimed Mexican architect Sordo Madaleno and the NYC-based Rockwell Group. They took inspiration from the local environment and culture and merged it with the best in modern luxury and an open-air design. While large and spacious, the hotel was built to minimize impact on the precious local environment, with the property’s existing mangroves and trees showcased through the common grounds.

There are pre-function and outdoor areas, along with a beachfront wedding gazebo. The grand total of flexible event space is over 15,000 square feet. And don’t forget the 460 feet of beautiful white sand lining the face of the hotel.
So you get all this brand new, beautiful space, but are can still hop out the front door with your guests and enjoy everything 5th Avenue has to offer.
For any of your smaller guests, there are babysitters, “Camp Hyatt” for kids and the teen arcade to keep them entertained, while the adults can indulge in the cenote-inspired spa or just enjoy margaritas by one of three infinity pools or at their three gourmet restaurants.
