Family Legacy with the Douglas’s

The Douglas family holds a very special place in our hearts!  We first met Marc, an award-winning Canadian photographer, and his wife Melanie back in 2007 and traveled to the Dominican Republic to capture their destination wedding at the Majestic Punta Cana Resort.  Then we traveled on a cross-country adventure to the Altos de Chavon and the beach for a trash the dress session.

Family legacy and family love is so close to our hearts.

Five years later and Marc and Melanie now have two GORGEOUS children, 4 year old Desiray and 1.5 year old Landon.   Desiray (we call her Desi) is simply the cutest and most charming little girl…Together with Landon, the full circle of a family legacy is complete for us, seeing this sweet family together after all these years.  Their energy really does complete us, we feel at home with them when we visit, and making photos with them doesn’t feel like a photo session… just fun.

Shortly after their trip we found out that Desi was diagnosed with Leukemia and up for the fight of her life.  For the last 2 years, her mom kept a journal, the days were hard and heartbreaking but you always want to have a sense of hope.  We continued to stay in contact with them and even chatted it up over facetime. Sol made a promise to Desi that they would play together on the beach one more time, so as soon as she could to please come visit!

Desi just completed 25 months of chemotherapy….  We celebrate her life and want to bring her to Playa del Carmen for an inclusive week (and perhaps even build her a college fund) :)
