“We had planned this trip with friends to go back to near where we got married and it happened to be around the time of our 5 year anniversary. So I wanted to surprise Claire with a little informal fun. Having our daughter with us, and the kids of our friends, was just so cool and a reminder of how much can change for the good in five years!” – Mike

Claire and Mike hired us 5 years ago to photograph their wedding in Paradise.  Remembering back to their wedding day we were blessed with an amazing rainbow before the ceremony on the beach.  We later had a light rain shower during the first dance and celebrated with a photoshoot.

Now, with their daughter Hazel and some close friends, it is again our honor to celebrate a vow renewal.  Not only did Mike decide to surprise his wife Claire with an impromptu vow renewal with friends, but they also found an unconventional location for the ceremony:

“On the morning of the renewal, we went looking for a place to have it. It had rained heavily the night before and our normal access to the beach was hard to get through, so we needed to find a new route. As we searched, we came across  a villa that looked abandoned, but we could sneak through it’s yard to get to the beach. So we said, why the hell not?” – Mike

Yet again, rain makes an appearance and has an influence on how the planning of the ceremony played out. Everything happens for a reason, even the path most taken becomes hazardous and often can cause us to reevaluate and find solutions, making the best of what we are given. Claire and Mike’s rainy wedding day pictures hold a place in our archive of  “Why rain on your wedding day is awesome”
