*UPDATE* in less than 48 hours after publication, we found the original owners of this gopro* Someone commented on our FB post and made the connection.

I’m a photographer who enjoys chasing adventure in paradise.  I have a special connection with the natural world and love to freedive as a means of concentration and relaxation. My love of freediving takes me to amazing places and sometimes has unexpected outcomes. Like the day I was exploring a new cenote and was lucky enough to come across a very special find on a dive.

In November 2016 I found someone’s lost GoPro at the bottom of a huge sinkhole in Puerto Morelos Mexico.

I was scouting locations and had taken my drone and my personal GoPro’s to film.  On my first descent I went 25ft through the lilies and the tree branches, the first thing I saw on the bottom was a GoPro… just sitting there… I kept the GoPro case closed until I got home. Cool thing is that GoPro makes an amazing camera with a strong housing that can survive being on the bottom of an sinkhole for years… 4 years to be exact. Imagine my surprise when I downloaded the card and found these photos and videos including the ultimate video, the final screaming selfie and final jump from a 60 foot platform – epic way to lose a camera.

A few years ago I lost a GoPro plus a 100$ tripod.  OUCH, that really stinks. Believe me, I know what it feels like to lose a expensive piece of gear. I am fortunate to have 4 GoPros in my professional arsenal and they’re expensive… about 400 USD. As a photographer I also believe in the importance of photographs. What about the priceless vacation photos and videos recorded on the memory card?

I was really motivated to try to find the owners. For all the cameras I have lost and broken (true story!)… it’s just the right thing to do. So, I made a video about finding the lost GoPro. Share this video and let’s find the owners!

Today’s date, January 4th 2017, is exactly 4 years to the day that the GoPro was lost according to its settings: January 4th, 2013

Here are some facts that could help us find the Lost GoPros owners.

We know they traveled to the Riviera Maya Mexico
They stayed in the Now Jade Hotel from January 1st – 4th, 2013
The hotel is in Puerto Morelos Mexico, a town just 30 minutes south of Cancun.
They visited the Kin-Ha Cenote and toured on ATV’s on the road “Ruta de los cenotes”

*UPDATE* commenters say that the cigarettes are branded Canadian…so we are location zoning in on them*

Help us pay it forward, do the world a solid by finding the Lost GoPro’s owners.  Share this with your friends. Please help us return the #RivieraMayaLostGoPro
