Canadians and Mexicans get along like good neighbors, despite being separated by the USA. If you ask a Canadian about Mexico, they’re sure to say the love it! You don’t have to travel up north to ask, there’s always a huge bunch of Canucks in the Riviera Maya. Mexicans say the same about Canada, with many visiting Canada to live, vacation and study. On top of all the love for each other’s countries, we see lots of romance between Canadians and Mexicans too!

When a Canadian and a Mexican fall in love, a destination wedding in the Riviera Maya is an easy choice. That´s exactly what Ashley and Miguel did. Here is what Miguel had to say about coming back to Mexico for his Riviera Maya wedding:

It was so exciting! Ashley and I were very happy with everything. We both love the Mexican culture and it was a pleasure to share it with our Canadian guests. Many of them had never seen a live Mariachi group or had never eaten tacos al pastor. To see our families and friends enjoying all that, was incredible”.

When asked about how it was to find a soulmate from a different country and culture, Miguel told us:

I think the saying “opposites attract” applies to us…

I think the trick is to have much respect for others and understand that every person is different. Appreciate the positive and don’t focus on the negative. We both like to enjoy with family and friends and are always supporting each other.

Thanks for bringing the fiesta Ashley and Miguel, and extra kudos for the taco stand!
