Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Beach Wedding – Kris and Michael

Kris and Michael’s wedding was an awesome mix of the bada** style and attitude of the bride and groom mixed with heartfelt emotion and family love.
“Michael comes from an EXTREMELY tight-knit, emotional, Italian family. His mom cries if you just look at her wrong haha. I come from a less emotional family but, by the same token, when the time is appropriate (like their only daughter’s wedding) the tears come flowing. It was also like a family reunion for both sides. Many people got to spend days together when most have not seen each other in 10+ years. So needless to say it was a VERY emotional few days for everyone.” – Kris
Kris and Michael opted for an “adults only” wedding, though they made an exception for Kris’ nephews who were the super cute ring security: “They are at such a fun age and weren’t initially going to come but I convinced my brother and sister to bring them and it was a great decision! They and one other boy, Turner, were the only exceptions for our no kids rule” – Kris
Kris and Michael chose the brand new Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Resort for their beach wedding. Set right in the center of downtown Playa, the Grand Hyatt is a super chic and sleek wedding location with striking architecture.
“Honestly, choosing the venue was the hardest decision, it took us MONTHS to find and pull the trigger on a venue. We loved that the Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen was brand new, affordable and a brand name we know and trust. The space is so open, clean and crisp.” – Kris
Kris told us that she is “super OCD oriented and likes EVERYTHING to be in order” though she also told us she’s a hippie at heart :) We asked her to share her top wedding tips, especially since she planned her wedding without the help of a wedding coordinator.
“Do it all yourself! I’m SO controlling so looking back now I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Initially, I was so upset that we couldn’t afford a wedding planner but after the day was over and being praised by EVERYONE how it was the best, most fun and beautiful wedding they have ever been to, it was SO worth it.”
