A Peruvian bride and a Turkish groom get married in Mexico!  Carla and Cem met in the USA where they both attended college and fell in love. Their family from around the world joined them in Cancun for the wedding celebration and vacation on the beach.

We love multicultural weddings because we discover traditions that are new to us. Carla introduced us to the Turkish ritual of writing names of the single ladies in attendance on the bottom of the bride’s shoe.  The first name to be rubbed off the sole will be the next to marry!  We asked Carla to check whose name had disappeared but she will only know when she sees her pictures, let us know Carla.  Ah, traditions.

This detail… wow… Carla’s words to Cem:

Let our love bring us back to today when we promise to be always together side by side. May our lives be an adventure and our battles be fought together. You are my forever and always. Te amo, Carla

There were so many emotional family moments during the day.  Family interaction at weddings is subtle, seeming like an everyday part of life but meaning so much, little touches like Cem’s mother tying his shoe. We love to capture these moments of family love that make us think about the future and the past, this picture now joins many more of our favorites in our “Mothers Day” post.

After the wedding, Carla kindly sent us this message:

Martina!

Martina! I want to thank you infinitely for being part of our wedding and having so much patience with us! Haha, we were so many! I imagine it was very difficult to get us all in order. The truth is we felt so at ease with you and my friends commented that the shots you were taking were the max! Your professionalism and creativity were definitely noted!

Big thanks, muchas gracias, Sağ olun to Carla and Cem, we wish you all the best, hayat boyu mutluluklar dilerim!
