“There are several kinds of love. One is a selfish, mean, grasping, egotistical thing which uses love for self-importance. This is the ugly and crippling kind. The other is an outpouring of everything good in you — of kindness and consideration and respect — not only the social respect of manners but the greater respect which is recognition of another person as unique and valuable.

“The first kind can make you sick and small and weak but the second can release in you strength, and courage and goodness and even wisdom you didn’t know you had.” – John Steinbeck on Falling in Love: A 1958 Letter – part of Jeb’s vows

Lots of sweet, personal touches in Anne and Jeb’s wedding day. From the getting ready we saw the thought that had been put into the details, Anne wearing her mom’s own wedding veil and carrying a monogrammed shirt cuff around her bouquet as a tribute to her father

“My father was my biggest fan.  He lost a battle with cancer in 2014, just days after Jeb asked for my hand in marriage.  I knew I wanted him with me the day I walked down the aisle so arranged to have one of his dress shirt cuffs wrapped around my bouquet so he was with me every step of the way.”

“I love a classic, romantic look and am also quite sentimental and nostalgic.  I wanted to wear my mom’s dress, which ended up not being an option.  Her veil was what I judged every dress I tried on with.  Full length veil’s are not always the most popular on beaches but it ended up being beautiful as the wind wrapped us in it the entire ceremony.” – Anne

Anne and Jeb’s officiant was Jeb’s best childhood friend, Ben Snyder, who carefully and thoughtfully prepared the entire wedding run of show.  His words on marriage were: Nurturing a marriage is like caring for a prized firearm:

If you want it to last for a lifetime, you shield it and protect it.
If it gets tarnished, you polish it till it shines again.
You don’t expose it to undue hazards.
You don’t let it become normal or average.
You cherish it and keep it close to you.
With Love, it becomes a part of you and completes you.”

Additionally, Jeb delighted Anne by going off script and reading an excerpt from Steinbeck, Anne told us that she loved the surprise and the thought he put into it!

“We knew from the second we got married that having a small wedding was something we were not capable of doing with the size of our families and life-long friend and colleague groups. Moon Palace was able to accommodate our numbers of 100+ guests even at a short notice — we planned our wedding in roughly 5 months. “

“The wedding office at Moon Palace was exceptional.  We are very organized planners and even so – they put my spreadsheets to shame! Abril was our vendor coordinator, she set up conference calls and answered thousands of questions for me making it easy to trust her team when I was not there to see the work in person.  She orchestrated every vendor from floral to decor to music and more and was willing to triple check every detail with me.  She handed off the baton to our onsite coordinator Jennsen who was magical.  She picked up the ball and ran with it and managed to keep things so under control.”

“We felt like we were guests at our own wedding – which was wonderful.  There was no stress, we showed up and had a great time.  One thing I will say about Moon Palace is that while it is large, it is a well oiled machine.  They do not miss a step, forget a name or make anyone feel like a number.  It was wonderful.” – Anne

“Our advice is: create a blue print, document the run of show and distribute to all of your wedding party and vendors weeks in advance, again a week in advance and then as you arrive for the weekend festivities.  That way you are not constantly answering the same questions about who, what, when, where, why and how – but you also aren’t disappointed when it doesn’t happen the way you intended because its all documented and in folks hands.  Trust your coordinator and enjoy your wedding – it only happens once and passes by so quickly!”

A huge thank you to Anne for her beautiful words!
