There is something very special about photographing a cenote maternity session. The little life about to burst into the world is the epitome of how amazing nature is.
Here in the Riviera we have the beautiful cenotes. The lush, jungle foliage is an incredible backdrop for pictures but the cool, fresh water is what really makes them special. Pregnant bellies become weightless in the water and reminds us that baby is floating right now inside mom.
“I was so happy when Maru asked me to do a cenote maternity session with her. I had just started working for Del Sol and I didn’t have “proper” pro underwater gear then. The photos from this session are from my little “diving camera” (a first generation Sony mirrorless with Nauticam housing). Later I photographed her wedding with my big girl gear. I’m so happy that she put her trust in me to capture her in this magical moment at the beginning of my photographic journey! I still love these pictures years later :)” – Polly
