Beach Wedding Portraits – Ayelen and Lucho

, , , ,

A beautiful day with a fun, super hot couple, what more could we ask? After getting ready at Deseo, a boutique hotel with a contemporary design in the heart of Playa del Carmen, we headed out to catch the afternoon light. The Playacar area is one of our faves for trash the dress and portrait shoots. A “suburb” of Playa del Carmen, Playacar feels like a tropical jungle and even has its own Mayan ruins. It’s also right next to a gorgeous beach and with epic light this is an awesome spot for an afternoon portrait session.

We love the way Valeria captured the attitude of these two: Ayelen looks like a boss propped up in her dress on her bed and Lucho looks like a rockstar caught in the graphic lines of the shadows. Together they are tender and fun: Lucho’s fingers interlaced behind his bride’s back, a cheeky ass grab in return, smiles soft, knowing and real.

I want to challenge the idea of “classical” portraits and take them to a more creative level. I am always looking for something to make a photo different, a nice line, a funny moment, something to make a picture out of the ordinary. I always ask couples to play so that their natural emotions appear spontaneously, so something happens and their photographs are not only images, they tell a story. All that means I am very concentrated when I shoot, ready to catch a passing bird, a smile, a gust of wind that lifts the dress.

I love the energy that is created between me and my couples. When I finish a session I am always amazed by the knowledge that we did more than just take photographs, we captured unique and fun moments, we froze complete happiness in time. People always remember their photographer and it’s fascinating and such a privilege to think that I was responsible for capturing these moments, and that now my photographs are all over the world! – Valeria

Thanks to Ayelen and Lucho for coming to play with us!
