Ah Romance! That floating wonderful feeling of disbelief at your own happiness :) We were so honored to be a part of Alisa and Lance’s intimate wedding celebration. This close knit group of family and friends was a perfect demonstration of love and togetherness. We asked Alisa and Lance to tell us a little more about their day.
Del Sol: It’s amazing LOVE brought you here! Why did you Travel For Love?
“We wanted to have our wedding in Mexico because we fell in love with the destination when we were visited a year before our wedding.”
“Most of our family and friends have not visited Mexico before. Having the opportunity to spend a few days with them to celebrate our wedding, in this wonderful area, made it extra special.”
Del Sol: What was the most amazing moment of your day?
“Then our wonderful officiant was incredible and he made the ceremony extra special with how he shaped the ceremony. Last, being with people we love really made the day complete and we can’t thank them enough for being there with us.” Alisa + Lance
Del Sol: You were an intimate group but – thanks to technology – you managed to share the day with family who were far away!
Alisa: “Getting a FaceTime call from my cousin who lives in Thailand was especially surprising. It was exciting to speak with her on my wedding day and it was so thoughtful of her, being so far away. Lance also got a call from one of his cousins that meant a lot to him, too.”
Del Sol: How was your experience with Sol and the Del Sol team?
“Our experience with the Del Sol team was AWESOME! When we decided to get married in Mexico we knew planning a wedding from afar posed challenges and some things were harder to control than others. Researching photographers was one of the projects we knew we had to get right.
“We were only getting married once and wanted our day to be photographed in a way that was natural with a photojournalistic style. Of course, we knew there would be formal photos, etc but overall we wanted it to just flow. Deciding on Del Sol was an easy choice and one we would never regret. Their style is exactly what we envisioned.”
“Sol and Polly were so remarkable to work with and their energy and artistic sense came through as soon as they arrived. They really knew how to get the most interesting, poignant images and their personalities let everyone have fun.”
Del Sol: Why did you choose Dreams Puerto Aventuras? What did you especially like and what set it apart from other venues? Talk to us about the helpfulness of the staff, was there anyone who stood out?
“We selected Dreams Puerto Aventuras because it had the smaller, more intimate feel that we were looking for. We didn’t want the large resort feeling and Dreams PA fit the bill. They also have a lovely gazebo on the water that was perfect for our day. This is definitely not a party resort and we wanted that.”
Del Sol: We loved your reception set up, especially your candles from candle boutique – talk to us about that :)
“The style we were shooting for was romantic, warm and intimate.”
“When looking at what other vendors could offer (other than the resort) we liked what Candle Boutique was able to provide. They had some charming options that fit in with our vision. From the Mason jar backdrop to the dimmable string lights and lanterns lining the beach area, they surely made our reception area a highlight for our day. They even helped set up some papel picado at the last minute that we brought with us. They are true professionals and recommend them to anyone looking for that extra special touch of lighting decor.”
Del Sol: What’s your top destination wedding advice?
“If we could give any special destination wedding advice, it would be to squeeze in the extra time, go for a long weekend, and visit as many places as possible.”
“I know it’s extra money to spend but we thought we had a good feeling before going to Mexico on where we wanted our wedding and glad we did. If we had not, we may have made a wrong decision. Everybody is different and how their vision of how their day should be.”
