Destination wedding on Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres is one of the most perfect beaches for a wedding with a truly Caribbean feel. Ashley and Levi had a beautiful ceremony with many personalized details, most notably their officiant: their high school Spanish teacher! While in his class Ashley and Levi would jokingly flirt back and forth and he would always join in on the jokes. He became synonymous with their relationship and was Levi’s wedding day surprise to Ashley!

“She didn’t know he was going to be our officiant until she was walking down the aisle. It was a wonderful experience to have him as our officiant. Having someone there who has known us from the start was definitely a special moment.” – Levi

Ashley and Levi also decided on a personalized symbolic ceremony and, even better, included all their guests in the moment. They exchanged red roses to reflect being there for each other no matter what and, along with friends and family, scattered petals on the ocean.

“No matter what trials and tribulations we face, the rose will always serve as a reminder of the love we have for each other. Throwing the rose petals in the ocean was not only about our love for each other, but as a symbol of our guests wishing us well and sending positive thoughts our way.” – Ashley + Levi

Photobomb of the day was “that guy” passed out on the beach who had all the guests cracking up after someone shouted out “it’s the best man!” We love a good photobomb and even more when everyone embraces the moment and the unplanned element becomes a head turner resulting in a few lols!

Planning a destination wedding can be challenging but how about a ceremony on a tiny Caribbean Island? Ashley and Levi gave us this advice:

“Work with a coordinator – there is no way we could have done it without Maria. She was very helpful and we are extremely grateful we worked with her. Having someone who not only knows the language, but knows the community made everything so much easier. I would recommend her to anyone who is planning a wedding on Isla Mujeres.”
