Paradisus la Perla wedding with a hummingbird! – Danielle and Vince
There is a Mayan legend about a hummingbird. They say that after Gods had created everything they realized they had no way to transmit their hopes and dreams. So they took a piece of jade and turned it into the hummingbird. The legend says that if a hummingbird flies near you it comes from your thoughts.
Here at del Sol we are always hunting for “unicorns”. A unique, magical “something special” element in a photograph. Danielle and Vince’s unicorn was for SURE the humming bird that flew right through their wedding ceremony!
The hummingbird is a symbol of good luck. It represents wisdom, willpower, intelligence, boldness, consciousness. It also loves to drink nectar from the hibiscus flower, which Danielle has tattooed on her arm…. WOW! Is it amazing to see this speedy and rare, tiny bird at all! All these element combined is true unicorn material!
Apart from magical hummingbirds Danielle and Vince brought a whole lot of their own luck and love to their wedding day! We loved Danielle’s dad in his Marine Dress Blue uniform. For something a little less traditional and formal we have to give props to Vince’s incredible “Vanilla Ice” blessing to their own wedding!
Thanks so much to Danielle and Vince for their awesome words below and may your marriage be filled with unicorns!
“We both have a love for traveling! We wanted to get married at a resort where we could spend a full weekend with all of our family and friends. The ocean is something that was important to us, as well as the easy travel to Mexico. ” #travelforlove
“We wanted to do first looks so that we could see one another with just the two of us. We wanted to get any crying out of the way then so that I could go back and touch-up anything that needed to be.”
“I loved seeing Vince’s face for the first time seeing me in my dress. It was such a magical moment and we will ALWAYS remember that!” – Danielle
“My father is ex-military, Marine Corp. He served 24 years so it was very important to us that he wear his dress blues for the wedding. He has raised me all of my life and he made me the person I am today. When he gave his speech at the reception it touched everyone there. It was such a special moment!”
“Vince’s ‘Vanilla Ice’ started back in 2003. The guys got him to sing “Ice Ice Baby” at a friends wedding and everyone loved it. Each time one of Vince’s friends got married they requested he sing it at their wedding. He’s done it at least dozen weddings.”
“It turns out the every wedding Vince sang”Ice Ice Baby” the couple is still together! The weddings where he didn’t sing it unfortunately ended in divorce. That’s where the “blessing” part came from. We had to do it at our own wedding so our marriage would last forever!”
“After we decided to have a destination wedding we started looking at resorts in Playa Del Carmen. Paradisus la Perla was so beautiful and classy it stood out from the other resorts. We liked that there was an adult side and a kids side. The Gabi Bridge was also a great setting and the Gabi Club seemed perfect for a reception. The staff on the day of the wedding was amazing. From the wedding planners to the waiters. When the weather got bad (really windy and rain-y) the staff was quick to protect the reception from getting wet. We hardly even noticed it!”
“The Del Sol team was amazing! You were patient and really understood what we were trying to capture in our wedding. We were hot and uncomfortable in our outfits and you kept encouraging us to keep going because the pictures were for a lifetime.”
“We really appreciate that you wouldn’t let us quit because of the heat! We’ll have pictures as our memories and will forget how hot it was… so thank you!!!!” – Danielle + Vince
“You were also very responsive with all our questions leading up to the day of our wedding. We would recommend Del Sol to anyone planning a wedding in Mexico!”
“It’s difficult to plan a wedding from the US in Mexico. The response time is not always speedy and there is a language barrier that can be a challenge. But in the end it’s all worth it because the entire trip was a fun party with all our closest family and friends. Everyone is still talking about how much fun it was.”
