There is no “right” way to get married! Weddings are the way most people choose to mark that momentous occasion. That being said how, where and with how many guests is also a matter of taste! Ellie and Luke decided to travel for love and keep it intimate for their Secrets Akumal Elopement.

“Originally my husband didn’t want a wedding at all.” – Ellie

“After talking about it and discussing our options, we decided on a beach destination wedding. We didn’t want bright lights, loud music and tons of people.

“We realized who meant the most to us and would understand and actually appreciate the true meaning of love: my parents.” – Ellie

“They have spent the last 40 years happily married and truly understand the phrase, “for better and for worse.””

“We knew we wanted someone to capture our experience so we started researching photographers. While looking at some of the work Del Sol had completed and we were able to view, the decision was an easy one. Del Sol it is. What we did not expect was the three AMAZING ninja like photographers you would be sending. Not only were you still willing to accommodate our special day rain or shine, but you were willing to send an extra helping hand as a “just in-case measure.””

“As we all know September is really the kickoff to hurricane season. While that was a passing thought in our head, we had our date picked out and the weather was out of our control.”

“It was time to choose a venue to travel. We did our research and found Secrets Akumal. It was an all inclusive adults only resort with fantastic reviews. People would comment how while you are there you will want for nothing and have nothing but the top service and boy were they right.”

“Secrets Akumal is top shelf. They keep the facility clean, the staff is amazing and polite, kind and courteous, the food is top of the line and the drinks are strong. The details are endless, the beach security had eyes in the backs of their heads and kept the resort free from any and all trespassing.”

“Anyone who is nervous about Mexico, the resort does an amazing job to make it as safe or safer than home.” – Ellie

“We plan on returning and going into the town of Akumal with a group. Anything you could imagine they have, actually make it better than you imagine, and that’s Secrets.”

“Coming from a small town in Ohio and growing up around horses (my husband raised cattle), the cowboy boots and hats were not a “prop” for the wedding, they are who we are. My Dad has been on a pony or horse since he was two years old and never was without one. Following in his footsteps I can say the same. My Dad made a special seat that fit onto his saddle and I would ride with him, even before I could sit up on my own.”

“It’s our way of life and it’s what we LOVE!”

“Luke is fitting in with this family quite well, he actually has a natural seat on a horse. Even though he has only been riding horses less than three years, most people think he has been riding all his life. Ok back to the wedding day!”

“So we woke up to a DOWNPOUR of rain all morning, yes I know it’s good luck, but we didn’t travel 4000 miles to this beautiful place so we could be inside.”

“My future husband kept reassuring me to relax and keep the faith, the sun would come out and shine when it was meant to. We continued on with our day as planned. Once again the Del Sol team was over the top on attention to detail and professionalism! The most amazing moment was as my father walked me down the aisle fully prepared to give away his only daughter, the moment we reached my patiently waiting husband, the sun broke through the clouds and a bright beam of light was directed right on us.

“Not only was my father ready to hand me over, clearly the universe and God was giving us a clear sign, here is the man who will love you forever and always!!!”

“Never in my life have I felt so special and blessed as I did in that moment, and the Del Sol team was there to capture the moment so it may live on forever in our hearts. Anyone who wants to capture and cherish their special time, here is your team. I would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the amazing and heartfelt time and considerations that you and your team took to make our day so special!”
