Unico Riviera Maya is an Adults only, all-inclusive resort halfway between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, 1.5 hours from Cancun Airport. the resort has 448 guestrooms, 5 restaurants, and 3 poolside bars, 2 swim-up bars, 6 bars/lounges, a full-service spa, a sports center, and 3 outdoor pools.

Besides the pure stats, Unico is without a doubt feels like an adults-only resort – though necessarily a “couple resort.” Rooms can be reserved specifically for either 1 bed in the room, or 2 beds, (most resorts offer this on request only.) That means friendscations at Unico won’t mean sharing a bed with your bestie. The design is gorgeous and each space has its own individual style and details. Unico has a beach hotel approach on an all-inclusive scale. The Unico design concept is to showcase the surrounding area: culture, gastronomy, and aesthetics. The design is influenced by the Mayan Culture and the Yucatan peninsular in the art, colors, and textures, incorporated with a modern, contemporary vision.

The boutique, personalized touch is to be found from activities like SUP yoga to the Beauty Bar. They offer artisanal soaps and natural essences that are mixed to your preference with fresh aloe vera to make a natural aftersun. Unico even presents you with aromatherapy options at check-in. You to choose the scent with which they will scent your room. A favorite is the local artist who customizes the straw hats gifted to guests.

It would be easy to be so enamored with the details and design of the resort that you forget the beach! The white sand beach itself is lovely, and far enough away from neighboring hotels Palladium and El Dorado to feel private.

Another point of note is the relaxed dress code. Unico will not insist you wear long trousers to go to dinner and are generally more relaxed with dress code requirements. While the (beautiful) lobby bar is open until midnight, there is also a bar/disco open until 2 am, not a club per se, but certainly somewhere to party a little later without leaving the resort. In short, Unico is a well-thought-out resort for adults who appreciate beautiful design and details with the convenience of the all-inclusive experience.

Unico Wedding Terraces: Costerra + Nayade

In the center of the resort are the 2 terraces, the Costerra terrace (capacity 150) and the Nayade (capacity 250). The large raised concrete platforms are “blank canvases” ready to adapt to whatever reception design you have in mind. Definitely consider lighting design here! Though in the daytime the terraces may feel very close to the main pools and indeed each other, in our experience, they feel private at nighttime since most of the guests are in the restaurant and bar areas of the resort.
