Azul Beach Hotel by Karisma Wedding – Amanda and Kevin
“I’ll start off by saying, if it didn’t rain, I would have been worried. It rained when Kevin proposed, it rained at our engagement party, it rained at my bridal shower. Rain has played a part at every milestone in our life. I even teased Kevin that if it rains on our wedding day I am naming our first child Rain. For us, rain is good luck.”
“Not only did we get to have our wedding in the beautiful lobby, we took photos with an amazing sky, and our friends got to dance in the rain. It’s all part of the adventure – and we were glad to have it.”
The words: “rain on your wedding day” strikes fear into the heart of many brides. It’s refreshing to have a couple who would have been more disturbed by the lack thereof!! Kevin and Amanda’s great attitude was clear to see in so many aspects of their wedding day – starting with their rainy first look! We asked Amanda and Kevin to share their thoughts about their wedding day.
Del Sol: Kevin – many couples think that they shouldn’t do a first look as it will take away the impact of seeing each other in the ceremony. You looked if anything MORE emotional when you saw Amanda walk down the aisle – talk to us about that!
“We wanted to have that moment for us. Amanda and I are lucky to be surrounded by friends and family, but sometimes you just want that moment for you. However, when it came to the ceremony, I had a vision in my head of how it would look, sound and feel.”
“The moment our flower girl turned the corner and the music cue hit perfectly, everything I had envisioned was right in front of me. Amanda looked beautiful, her dress was amazing and our year of planning had come to fruition.” – Kevin
Del Sol: Amanda – your mom walked you down the aisle and she was super emotional too!
“My mom is a selfless woman who does everything for the greater good of Kevin and I. Her tears were a reflection of her great love for us.” – Amanda
Del Sol: Did someone say something special?
“Having one of my best friends as our officiant was such a gift. He has seen so much of our journey and did a wonderful job balancing sentiment, tradition and humor in his words.
“So many people contributed in so many ways. The speeches from Alanna, Crissi, Nick and my dad were all so amazing.”
Del Sol: We love all the Mexican details you have in your wedding day and not just sugar skulls – you went all the way with Guadalupe virgin undies for the boys!!!
“Coming from Southern California, we both grew up heavily influenced by Mexican culture. The vibrant colors, amazing music, incredible food and strong family values resonate with us. We wanted to touch on those traditions that are very much a part of our daily lives living in Los Angeles, but it was also important that we did so with great respect. We hope we accomplished that.
Del Sol: How was your experience with the del Sol team?
“From the first email to the end of our reception del Sol was absolutely amazing. The energy was relaxed and flexible. We felt completely at ease and knew the moments would be captured.”
Del Sol: Why did you choose to have your destination wedding at Azul Beach Hotel by Karisma?
“We chose Azul Beach because we wanted a small resort where our friends and family would easily find each other and feel like they’re home. We checked Instagram hashtags to find people’s “real” experiences and not make a decision based on promotional photos on a website. It was important to feel like we were at a beautiful tropical paradise and not a 50 story Vegas casino. The food was also a major factor and Azul did not disappoint.”
“As far as the staff, I could go on forever about the wonderful staff at Azul Beach. Each member of the Azul team made our stay remarkable. From the moment we arrived we were so impressed and relieved to know we made a good choice and our most important people would be treated like royalty.”
“We had guests ranging from 10 months old to 80 years old and Azul made everyone feel special and took care of all the little details. To highlight one name would be unjust, as every single person made our trip absolutely perfect.”
Del Sol: What’s your top destination wedding advice?
“To have just one day to spend the most important moment in our life did not seem like enough, so we made everyone get on a plane :) It’s the best excuse for a vacation!” #TravelForLove
“Our top destination wedding advice is: be flexible and enjoy those around you. In order to accomplish that, lie to your guest and tell them you are going to be there two days later than you really are. This allows you to finalize details and when you guests arrive, you can relax.”
“Be present in the moment. This is the time that will touch your heart forever, so drink it in: Every hug, every smile, every laugh, every tear; because when you come home you have a mosaic of beautiful moments in your memory.”
