Playa del Carmen Grand Coral Beach Club Wedding – Lina and Serge
“Engagement photos? Do we really have to do this? Just crop my face and stick it on invite…”
That was the initial thought running through our heads as we are getting ready for the wedding, planning the trip, and deciding on the atmosphere of the wedding. Well, I guess we kind of have to. Did the research online and decided it would be cool to take engagement pictures around the destination we are setting for our wedding (who could pass up an excuse for a vacation, right?) When we came across Del Sol, we were stunned by the quality and creativity of the photographs. There was no question we wanted to do our engagement photos with Del Sol.
Initial reaction: “Wait, you want us to improvise? That’s new.”
Reaction later in the day: “Getting naked on public beach sounds fun… How do we put that on our invites??”
That was the day when it was no question we wanted Del Sol and Debora a part of our wedding!
Planning a destination wedding in a different country is… well, distant. We needed an “in” person. Someone who knows the area, thinks like us, and absolutely wants to make our day special for us.
We contacted Weddings Riviera Maya and worked with Sabrina. She listened to what we wanted for the wedding, how we wanted to celebrate, and the mood we wanted people to remember. She suggested few locations based on laid back feel we want. We have to see the location and taste the food in person to know, who can pass up yet another reason for a vacation?
When we walked into Grand Coral, with the pool overlooking the ocean, completely private, quite, and perfect for everything we could imagine for our wedding. Dance floor over the pool with ocean as a background for the first dance! Water drummers over the ocean as we hit the pool! Acrobats on the side and dance floor!
We knew what we would physically look like on the wedding day, yet we wanted a first look. Why? We already knew what we would look like? The first look for us had nothing to do with physical appearance, surprise of the dress, or the shoes we wore. It was about emotional display, the sharing of the connection, “a look of promise to love each other through everything.”
We tackled life together, why shouldn’t we symbolize that in our ceremony?
Walking together down the aisle was our way of showing
“on this walk through life, I will always be next to you.”
Being announced as husband and wife was our happiest and most memorable moment of the entire day. Pool craziness, cigar roller, astonishing dance floor, and the crowd like no other were all memorable. And yet, the raw emotional happiness of vows and the announcement beats it all. This is another reason why we also choose to do trash the dress. It was our private second wedding. Pure connection, no one around, just our emotional expression captured on camera by Debora and Del Sol.
Everyone involved in the wedding was amazing and to have a group like Del Sol capture it all on camera is one of the best parts about it. You have immortalized this experience for us. We can’t wait to see all of our wedding and trash the dress pictures, and of course to take more pictures in the future with Del Sol!
