Paradisus La Esmeralda and La Perla Resort – Playa del Carmen
The Paradisus luxury resort: Adults-only La Perla and family-friendly La Esmeralda, only minutes from downtown Playa del Carmen.
This is our archive of Playa del Carmen Weddings
The Paradisus in Playa del Carmen, Mexico is one of the chicest wedding venues in the Riviera Maya. Combining luxurious contemporary design, bold colors, stunning architecture, thoughtful illumination and the natural beauty of the region, Paradisus offers many exciting options for wedding ceremonies and receptions. Easily accommodating large wedding parties of up to 200 guests, Paradisus remains compact and easy to move around, no need to get in a golf cart here!
The hotel has a beautiful, calm Rivera Maya beach set in a private bay, but Paradisus really comes into its own architecturally. The hotel is studded with impressive structures, pillars and grills that cast dramatic shadows, sculptures and modern light fixtures; architecture lovers will be thrilled with the possibilities for dramatic, artistic portraits and settings for first looks.
The resort boasts two lobbies: adults-only La Perla and family-friendly La Esmeralda where the smallest members of the family are welcomed and treated to special snacks and have a “family concierge” available to them. The resort is located very close to the vibrant town of Playa del Carmen but maintains the feeling of being in a remote paradise.
Why choose the Paradisus Resort Playa del Carmen for your destination wedding or event?
The rooms in La Perla and La Esmeralda are impeccably decorated and feature rainfall showers and deep soak tubs, perfect for relaxing before the big day. Each room is unique and the bridal suite is incredible with its lounge area, dressing rooms and enormous en-suite bath. The Paradisus La Perla wedding of Marissa and John has some wonderful “getting ready” moments, champagne toasts and jumping on the bed, definitely a great way to start the day in a luxurious setting.
The Gabi Bridge is a unique location for a wedding in the Riviera Maya and one of the most popular spots for a ceremony at Paradisus. The stunning wooden bridge spans the mangrove and connects the center of the hotel with the beach. Just a few steps behind the Gabi Bridge is the soaring palapa of the Gabi Club and joining the two is the Gabi Beach Club, a slice of white sand perfect for a cocktail hour.
The tree-lined deck of the Gabi Bridge provides shade for wedding guests and also makes space feel private and intimate, this is not a spot where you can expect many onlookers and passersby creating a backdrop to your ceremony. Fashionista brides will be delighted that they can walk down the aisle in their highest and pointiest shoes on the heel friendly deck. While you will not sink into the sand here you still have a beautiful beach view and that slice of turquoise blue behind you during your ceremony.
With flowers and decor, every ceremony is unique and personalized, Lea and Dave’s Gabi Bridge Paradisus wedding was a child-friendly family affair with simple white decor, the natural surroundings of sea, sky and jungle plants set a beautiful backdrop to love. From the Gabi Bridge, it is easy to hop onto the beach for sunset portraits and it is also possible to organize a cocktail hour at the Gabi Beach Club.

Another stunning location for ceremonies is the gazebo which offers shade while remaining open and airy with the high palapa roof. While there is no sea view in the gazebo ceremonies here are touched by the spectacular sunset light. Inna and Daniel’s Paradisus gazebo wedding was blessed by this light (and they go down in history as one of our favorite first kiss moments too!) Jessica and Jay’s wedding celebrated the reception in the Paradisus gazebo, the candlelight glowing on the wood was warm and cozy, perfectly romantic.

If it rains on your wedding day at Paradisus, no problem! Ceremonies and receptions can also be held inside one of their restaurants or function areas, Michelle and Bryan’s rainy day wedding at La Esmeralda was lovely regardless of the weather.
The wedding coordination team of Paradisus is world-class, offering a variety of romantic packages and themes to suit any taste and the flexibility to create magic from the ideas of the brides and grooms to be. Del Sol Photography has been lucky enough to experience an Assyrian Christian Orthodox Wedding as well as this traditional nighttime Jewish Wedding. This Coptic Orthodox wedding was incredible, the ceremony in the famous church in Playa del Carmen followed by an amazing Paradisus reception in the gazebo.
Weddings at Paradisus are always elegant, from the decor and flowers to the custom reception dinners in one of their restaurants like La Palapa, newlyweds and their guests are treated to only the finest. Receptions can be held in the poolside palapa “Gabi Club”, just steps away from Gabi Bridge.
The Gabi Club has a stunning ceiling of bamboo and disco balls and looks spectacular filled with the colorful DJ lights, Jennifer and Barry’s Gabi Club reception was dynamic, they took full advantage of the dance floor!

We have had the pleasure of shooting many Paradisus weddings and each is delightfully unique and special, a reflection of the couple in love and their personal tastes. The combination of architecture and design of the resort, the attention to detail of the wedding coordinators and the natural beauty of the Mexican Caribbean makes the Paradisus resorts a wonderful choice for your destination wedding.
The Paradisus Playa del Carmen is one of Del Sol Photography’s preferred luxury hotel vendors for destination weddings and events.
