This is the story of Brooke and Stephen’ Wedding – Blue Venado Playa del Carmen Mexico.

“Every year we travel to at least two or three new countries and love exploring our new home of Australia. We met on a beach. We lived in a beach side city. We got engaged on a beach… can you see a pattern?” #TravelForLove

We LIVE for Brooke and Steven – they are our travel IDOLS following up their wedding with a 300 day honeymoon!

“Stephen and I love to travel. We met on a tiny island called Ilha Grande off the coast of Rio de Janiero, Brazil when we had both decided to quit our jobs and go traveling. After our individual travels we both went home, Stephen to New Zealand myself to England. Shortly after we decided to move to Sydney, Australia where we lived for 5 years together. Stephen proposed on a deserted island in Vanauatu.”

“We also decided to quit our jobs again and planned a 300 day long honeymoon visiting over 40 countries. So, for us, there was no other choice but to have our wedding on a tropical beach and Mexico was the perfect place to start this amazing adventure.”

“For Stephen and I, travel is a fundamental part of our lives.”

“Exploring new places together. Revisiting places we have already been to and sharing our experiences and knowledge. Trying new food and wine. Meeting new people and attempting to understand even just a little piece of each culture we get to experience.”

“Our top priority when choosing a venue was privacy. Blue Venado certainly has this since you have the whole beach club to yourselves.”

“The venue is beautiful and perfectly set up for a ceremony and reception. It also didn’t need much decoration (a great saving!) as the natural setting is it’s best feature. The food was great, the drinks were flowing and we couldn’t have been happier with how the venue looked.”

“The idea of a resort wedding where there are potentially other weddings happening on the same day and everyone from the resort can watch your special moment, doesn’t really meet my idea of an intimate wedding.”

“My mum, Anne, wrote a beautiful, touching poem which she read out during the reception which left everyone with a tear in their eye. My best friend Hannah, my Dad Mel and Stephen’s Mum, Lucy all did speeches, each of which was individual, funny and really made our day even more special. We also had family that couldn’t travel to Mexico and they sent us a video that morning which was so lovely to receive but nearly ruined my make up!”

“What was the most amazing moment of your day? That’s a hard one…. Either reading our vows to each other (even though I stuffed mine up)! Or, seeing Stephen dance all night long like no one was watching… except everyone was and he didn’t care one bit. Both just as romantic to me :)”

“The Del Sol team were great throughout the whole process. The communication was fantastic and emails were always responded to promptly. Considering we were organising everything from Australia, this was very important to us and the Del Sol team made us feel very comfortable.”

“Communication is the most important thing. Between each other, between you and your vendors/wedding planner. Being clear on exactly what you want but being able to go with the flow is also very important… especially in Mexico!”

“Sometimes things don’t work out and unless it’s something major, you have to let things go and concentrate on why you are getting married in the first place. It’s all about each other, your friends and family. None of these people will care if your flowers don’t match the grooms buttonhole or there is lace on the table instead of burlap. They are there for you and to have a great time.”
