Mayan Wedding at Grand Coral Beach Club – Karin and Marko
Mayan wedding ceremonies are a one of the most amazing ways to celebrate one the most important days of your life. What we love the most about Mayan weddings is that family and friends are part of the ceremony. Guests are given instruments to play as the Shaman asks for blessings from each cardinal directions. This always generates wonderful interaction and participation from guests. So much more meaningful to be part of the wedding ceremony rather than simply watching.
The Shaman throws flower petals in the air and they fall with the movement of the wind. Water droplets are a blessing. Sea shells, maracas and other musical instruments makes offerings to the universe.
A Mayan wedding is full of color and divine energy. It stirs the imagination. Every element has a meaning. The arch of palm fronds decorated with red flower petals, symbolizes strength. The arch celebrates unity with the earth at both of the arch’s connection points. The shamans typically draw a large circle in the sand around the entire wedding as the circle is one of the most powerful symbols of energy in existence.
This circle unites and focuses all the energy around the couple and all the participants and really leaves the sensation with every guest that they have genuinely witnessed and experienced one of the most emotionally powerful wedding ceremonies they have ever attended.
“Karin and Marko met at college in Guadalajara, Marko is from Serbia and was taken by Karin’s beauty. The love affair was short because he knew that this was the woman of his life :)
Karin’s grandma was so happy and couldn’t stop telling me all about Marko’s proposal. Marco went to Karin’s house to ask for her hand in marriage, with flowers and a mariachi band. He won not only Karin’s heart but the whole family, including grandma that was so proud to share the story with me.
The love story is like a fairy tale, they got married and went to live in Europe. Their Mayan wedding was magical, spiritual and incorporating the Mexican traditions. I felt the intense love they have for each other and the beautiful emotions of happiness the whole family shared – Sol Tamargo
