“To us, the Mexican culture represents romance, relaxation, and of course a bit of spice – much like our relationship!”

Del Sol: It’s amazing LOVE brought you here! We love that Mexico is a bit of a theme in your relationship through first dates, proposals and now your wedding – talk to us about that – is it just a coincidence? Or what does Mexico represent for you?

“Mexico represents a place for us to escape and totally focus on having an amazing time with just each other. Ever since our first date, we’ve always toasted a personalized “cheers” message to each other before every margarita, as a way to celebrate all the happy moments in our life together. To us, the Mexican culture represents romance, relaxation, and of course a bit of spice – much like our relationship!” -Mer

Del Sol: You chose to ELOPE – just the two of you sharing this moment together – talk to us about this decision and why did you travel for love?

“This was a special moment between us, and we wanted to focus on each other and embrace having each other’s undivided attention.”

“The first time we traveled to Mexico together and to Secrets Capri was a bonding experience and became “our place” just for the two of us. We looked at wedding venues at home in Dallas and none of them offered the special, unique feeling that Mexico brought to us. We were able to exchange our vows in our most personal location.” – Mer + Matt

Del Sol: Was there a part of each others’ vows that touched you?

“We wrote our vows very separately and were completely blind to what the other would say, but we were pleased with how we’d both used a similar amount of humor & sincerity. We noticed later that we’d both ended our handwritten vows with a heart, which all just further solidified our connection.” – Mer

Del Sol: What was the most amazing moment of your day?

“Seeing each other for the first time at our ceremony was definitely the most amazing moment of the day! We both had the overwhelming feeling of “just the two of us being in this thing together”, which was a great way to start a lifetime partnership.” – Mer + Matt

Del Sol: Why did you choose Secrets Capri? AND did you ever see the deer!

“We chose a Secrets Capri Elopement after we visited there previously and had the time of our lives. We love that it embodies the essence of Mexico with both its vibrance and intimacy. It’s small enough to make friends with other guests but large enough to keep us entertained! I’d always wanted to walk down the aisle to the song “Secrets”, which was another sign pointing us to this hotel.”

“Our wedding coordinator Maria went above and beyond – she literally taped me into my dress! She made sure every single detail was taken care of on our wedding day. We could tell Maria truly cared, and she made our wedding dreams come true.”

Del Sol: How was your experience with the del Sol team?

“The Del Sol team exceeded all expectations, which were already high!”

“Our photos & video were the most important part of our wedding to us, because our family & friends didn’t attend, and that will be how they get to experience it with us. Del Sol made us feel like celebrities with their creativity, professionalism, and ability to capture the best day of our lives. They were willing to do whatever it took (including getting in the ocean & the jungle) to make our photos the best they could be!”

Del Sol: We believe that the experiences we have in our lifetime make us the people we are… Could you tell us about one travel-related experience that really made you the people that you are today?

“We visited Colorado together for a friend’s wedding the first summer after we met. Most of our friends went shopping or dining out, but we rented an enormous truck, drove up a steep side of a mountain cliff, and climbed over streams and through barbed wire fences to the most beautiful lake we’d ever seen. We fly fished together without a guide, surrounded by lush forests and blue skies. We didn’t catch any fish, but we caught each other falling in love through our first major bonding experience as a couple, and started our tradition of “going rogue”, as evidenced by the elopement.
