Cenote Wedding Ceremony Experience
Tana + Kevin
“I think our first trip out of the country did it for us – we were hooked on Travel.”
“Not everything will go as planned and you may have some close calls but when we overcame those challenges we found our relationship to be that much stronger.”
“We both found that there is so much more to the world than the weekly 9-5 so to speak. Both of us lost our dads young and saw how our parents didn’t get to do everything they would have liked to do together.”
“We don’t want to miss those experiences.”
“We want to go everywhere and experience the world together, the good and bad because you don’t know when it will be taken away.”
Del Sol: It’s amazing LOVE brought you here! Why did you Travel for Love?”
“We knew we were traveling already when we decided to go ahead and get married. We had talked about doing a destination wedding for years. Some friends of ours had a small destination wedding in Jamaica that we had been a part of and we loved how perfect and stress free it was.”
“We chose Mexico for a few reasons. We knew we wanted a Mayan ceremony and we knew we wanted it to be at a cenote.”
“The cenotes have such a beautiful serenity about them. We love how the sunbeams break through the canopy and pierce the water. They create a shade of blue you can’t find anywhere else. It’s magic.”
Del Sol: You told us “we are not inviting or telling anyone about the wedding!” Talk to us about that!
“We wanted it to be a surprise when we got back. We’d been together over a decade and our friends and family have been after us for years to do it. We can’t wait to have our wedding reveal party to share the experience with our friends and family!”
“Del Sol’s work makes this possible. Your team did an amazing job capturing our day.”
Del Sol: You told us “We both enjoy traveling and new experiences.” like SKYDIVING – where does your Tulum cenote wedding ceremony fit in on the scale of adventurousness!!
“Our Tulum cenote wedding ceremony fits right in! We love anything that broadens our horizons and enriches our lives and Kevin loves to do the extreme. If he had his way he would have jumped into the wedding.”
“We like traveling because it provides us with ability to get to know and appreciate people and cultures different than our own. Tana has a background in art history with an emphasis on art preservation. Cultural preservation is so important to society and something both of us feel strongly about.”- Kevin
Traveling allows us to see and try things that are new to us and helps preserve another people’s traditions. Us having a Mayan wedding in a cenote seemed to make sense… It was new to us… it was different… it was exciting.”
Del Sol: Talk to us about choosing to have an Mayan ceremony in your Tulum cenote wedding?
“We chose to do a Mayan ceremony because of a previous trip a few years back where we went on a cultural excursion. We were introduced to a few of their beliefs and practices and their appreciation and respect for the environment.”
“During the tour, we had a photo taken of us with a Mayan shaman during a welcoming ceremony which we brought back and posted on social media. When our family and friends saw it, they thought we had gotten married in the jungle. We decided then that if we did ever get married that was how we wanted to it.”
“The ceremony was perfect for us. We don’t typically do things traditionally. We lived together for ten years before deciding to get married.”
“All of the elements in a Mayan ceremony have specific meanings, all of which fit our philosophies on life and love like a tailored glove. We found a deep connection there that was beautiful.”
Del Sol: Talk to us about your UNDERWATER experience!
“The underwater session was something I really wanted. The photos have a surreal feel about them and I love the way the light works.” – Tana
Tana: “It was harder than we thought it would be. We knew the water would be cold and that it would be an issue for Kevin because we have done scuba in centoes before but we always had wet suits. Finding the right buoyancy was difficult for me, especially with my dress and veil moving around. Luckily the team at Del Sol has plenty of experience and patience to make this happen.”
Del Sol: How was your experience with Matt and the Del Sol team?
“Our experience with the team at Del Sol was amazing. They helped make sure everything was exactly what we wanted. They even helped secure our first choice location.”
“We didn’t have a wedding party of our own so the team was our party. The day would not have been the same without them. THANK YOU!”
Del Sol: We believe that the experiences we have in our lifetime make us the people we are… Could you tell us about how travel made you the people that you are today?
