We don’t mind the Rain Wedding – Grand Sunset Princess – Karen and Christopher
1 Corinthians 16:14 – do everything in love
Wonderful words by Karen
“Do everything in love” pretty much summed up our whole experience. Getting to spend true quality time with our most beloved family and friends was indescribable. The whole week was such a rollercoaster of emotions but one feeling that never wavered was the intense love we felt from and for everyone.
We are incredibly blessed to have such extraordinary people in our lives, and as we said in our speeches although we were married that day it is also because of all of them as well. We wouldn’t be complete or the people we are today without each of them in our lives. Every person has in their own way made our special day possible and absolutely unforgettable.
At the beginning of the day we were so very worried about the rain and thank goodness decided to move the ceremony indoors because as I was walking down the aisle it POURED, but it also lent itself to a totally different atmosphere.
With the rain pouring around us but us in a tucked away corner with our most beloved people surrounding us as we started our journey as husband and wife, it had such an intimacy to it that was indescribable. At the reception the rain did not even bother us one bit! Everyone had a blast dancing in the rain and throwing our big love ball!
The tea ceremony was a nod at my Chinese background. It contains such a beautiful sentiment of respect and gratitude to our parents for all the years of love and care. Above that, it also symbolizes a love that is pure, noble and faithful as well as fertility for the couple.
Funny story to go along with our tea ceremony: as we were serving tea to my parents, my dad was chirping Christopher so bad! “how come you’re shaking so bad?” and “I’m going to beat you…….. at golf!” which everyone got a good chuckle out of.
A very special moment for me was one moment in particular with my bridesmaids, as we were standing on the bridge with glitter in our palms and creating a silly but cute moment by blowing the glitter. I am an only child and desperately wanted siblings. God blessed me with not one but three sisters, each of these women are fiercely loyal and inexplicably amazing. They have been a marvelous type magic in my life and that moment and picture captured it. Also the sweetness of Diana’s oldest child standing beside us and unbeknownst to us was getting a face full of glitter every time we blew it!
The very best advice we were given before the wedding was to stop sometime during the wedding day and walk to the side or away and really take in everything. The love we felt was radiating from everywhere and everyone that day and getting that moment to stop and appreciate what it all meant was the best advice.
A massive THANK YOU to Karen for taking the time to write these beautiful words!
