“My Husband Rich and I love to travel. It’s one of our favorite things to do as a couple. When we became engaged, we knew that we wanted our wedding to be a fun and relaxing experience.
Our goal was to bring our guests on an adventure that exhibited our passion for exploration, with some time to put their feet in the sand.
“We visited Riviera Maya a few months in to our engagement to see venues in person (which I highly recommend to any couple considering a destination wedding). We came across Xcaret, and it displayed a lot of what we love: Tropical scenery that is rich in culture, crisp blue Caribbean water, and exotic wildlife.. all in one!”
“The morning and afternoon of our wedding day was gorgeous. For over a year I imagined our wedding details all set up next to the cliffside Turtle Ponds, with water crashing next to us during the sunset. It wasn’t until about 1 hour prior to the ceremony that the rain clouds rolled in. We thought it would pass, until the staff said we needed to make a decision; take our chances with the rain or move to plan B.”
“I was very glad that we had a plan B in case of rain: the Xcaret Park Wine Cellar. Even though we hadn’t seen it in person prior to the ceremony we were so thankful to have a backup! Our main concern was the guest’s comfort, so we went with Plan B and trusted our wedding planner to deliver our vision the best she could, and she did.”
“Every moment of our wedding/vacation or “weddingcation” as we like to call it, was ideal. If we had to choose just one, we couldn’t.
“We were so touched and honored to look around and see 19 of our closest friends and family members that traveled thousands of miles to show their love and support. Some had already met and others were complete strangers upon arrival. Every day we were able to watch them bond and build relationships.”
“We all left feeling more connected to one another. That’s what weddings are about, families becoming bigger and stronger.. that’s exactly what ours did.”
“Don’t sweat the small stuff. You can plan every detail but don’t expect it all to go as planned. It is so easy to get caught up in trying to make everything perfect, but that’s not how life works.”
