Cancun Marriage Proposal – Izumi and Yifan
“I thought he would never propose!”
Izumi told Yifan that they were going for a boat ride in Cancun to enjoy the sunset. Little did she know that we were going to blindfold her, and that the man of her dreams was going to propose.
Izumi and Yifan met a year and a half ago at the University. Before coming on vacation to Cancun, Izumi contacted us telling us that he wanted to propose. We love proposals and we love surprises, so we had the perfect way for Izumi to pop the question.
“I wanted to propose in a special place. It’s very difficult to go to Cancún from Asia. And Cancún is also such a famous resort place. We both grew up in a town next to the ocean. We both love the ocean. ” – Izumi
So, we took them on a “sunset photoshoot” in Cancun, on a private boat where they could see Nichupte lagoon, mangroves and finally stop at sea. We didn’t want Yifan to figure out what was going on, so we blindfolded her, grabbed candles and a ‘Will You Marry Me?’ sign and ran to the shallow sea to get the scene ready for Izumi.
“On a scale of 1-10 I would say I was a surprise level 7! I doubted a little bit when you guys asked about our love story but immediately denied myself since I didn’t believe that Izumi is gonna be so romantic.” – Yifan
When you guys covered my eyes, I really didn’t think so much, because the conversation with you guys were so fun and we had so much drinks. I thought maybe there was going to be a phenomenal and special natural scene (like the sunset) in front of us and you guys were trying to show us with the biggest surprise.”
“It was great. For me, it was a very nervous moment. You guys relaxed me, so I would not be so obvious that I was going to propose. The best part is that everyone did a great job not letting Yifan know the whole plan.” – Izumi
We asked Izumi what his advice would be for other people thinking about a Cancun marriage proposal!
“Choose Cancún and choose you guys. There are a lot of good places that can be used for proposal. Talk to the team and do the research. Find the right place for you.” – Izumi
