Happy Father’s day – Favorite Father Wedding Moments
Let’s face it, where would we be without our father? Our father is our rock, our foundation, and our safety net. He always has a shoulder to lean on. These are our special father moments!
Dads are strong and for many brides, their knight in shining armor and will almost never shed a tear… That is until they walk their little girl down the aisle and are witness to those famous words: “Who gives this woman to be married?”, “Her mother and I”. That’s when the softer side of dad comes pouring out :)
We love you dad, thank you for being there. Thank you for the strength, for the love, and for all you have done for us. This is also our special tribute for Father’s Day.
Here are some of our favorite quotes from brides and grooms about their dads and special father daughter moments.
“The happy tears continued once we got downstairs. As my dad and I were waiting outside to walk down the aisle, he reminded me to take a moment to look around and soak everything in once I got to the top of the aisle. He took out a small piece of paper from his pocket and unfolded it to reveal a quote from a Jimmy Buffett song that has come to be very special to us over the years: “Take it all in, it’s as big as it seems. Count all your blessing, remember your dreams.” – Nicole
“The most amazing moment for me, was walking down the aisle. I had my dad by my side, the first man in my life and that I loved. The dance between my dad and I had been an ongoing joke for years with my dad. It started at my cousin Melissa’s wedding. My dad danced to the song Baby Got Back by sir mix a lot and at every wedding! After that when it was played people asked him to dance. His answer was always the same “I’m saving this dance for Dana’s wedding.” So it was only right to make it happen and that’s what we did!” – Dana
“We didn’t have anything planned for my father in our wedding reception but he wanted to say how happy and confident he was in Hannah and my relationship. My Dad has Parkinson’s Disease and suffers from tremors, lose of motor skills and is generally more dependent on others as he grows older. My father remains one of the most loving and considerate individuals that I know; always looking to give out so much more that he receives. As he stood up in front of the crowd, tremors and involuntary movements very evident, his message was not for his own struggles but focused on the love and happiness that Hannah and I had found and all the wonderful people that were there to support us. In my eyes a selfless act from the man I look up to more than anyone.” – Kurt
“Walking to the ceremony and down the aisle with my Dad was surreal. It was calm and quiet and I was able to take it all in. My Dad played a big part in teaching me how to love and be loved while embracing all of the ups and downs that come with such love. Having him walk me to the person that I’ll spend the rest of my life with was something I’d always dreamt of. We are so glad the photographer suggested we take a selfie and although we are not typically “selfie” people, I am so glad we did. It’s a moment in time that I will always remember.”- Emily
“This is the first time in my life I’ve been able to celebrate having a father and I am so proud to be a part of the family. Love this picture of my Father-in-law and I.” -Father-in-Law / Daugher wedding processional at Live Agua Cancun – Sophia
“A moment that stands out to me from my wedding day is the moment my dad first saw me in my wedding dress before he walked me down the aisle to Matt. I will never forget the look on his face or his reaction. I will always remember that feeling!” – Rachael
“As we were preparing to walk down the aisle we didn’t want to be seen by our guests so we hid out in an ice cream shop…how perfect!! Both my dad & I love ice cream. I could see that he was starting to get choked up already so I began to create a diversion by asking him what flavor he would get. I can’t remember what his response was, but I do love that memory!!” -Heather Bowden MacGregor (Photo chosen as the cover of this blog post)
“Two months before our wedding, my father was diagnosed with a heart condition and required immediate open-heart surgery. He was unable to travel to Mexico with us to celebrate our marriage. We were absolutely devastated and could not picture our wedding without him. After much thought and consideration, we knew we had to go through with our destination wedding as planned because that is what my dad wanted us to do. His wish was to see his family happy. On our wedding day, my mother gave me a handwritten note from my father that he wanted me to have. I pinned this note inside my wedding dress because I wanted a small piece of him with me on my special day. Thankfully, my father is still with us and was in all of our hearts on that day.” – Sophie
“My dad is a songwriter and has been a musician for my whole life. When my brother and I were kids the house was never quiet, there was always music on in the background. Looking back it has become the soundtrack of my life. When we were little my brother would play drums in the kitchen with my dad and I would sing. We were always playing with music and my dad always had a guitar everywhere we went.”
“My dad could make up songs on the fly and it was always entertaining. He had written a custom song for my brother’s wedding and I was hoping I would get one too and I was so thrilled that we did. I was definitely a daddy’s girl, but in the sense that I would fix cars and sing songs with my dad. Not much has changed 30yrs later!”
There’s a boy named Phillip Anthony
Who had a love of boats and love of the sea
He loved to surf and he loved to fish
But in his heart was an empty wish
There’s a girl who’s name is Keri Lee
Who had a love of Otters and Manatees
She loved to speak whale like Dory the fish
But in her heart was and empty wish
Anthony cast his pole from west to east
Would he find a keeper or would he release her
He reeled in his lure and saw and angel fish
Their hearts filled up when the both of them kissed
And it’s a yo ho ho to husband and wife
Who found the catch of their life – Tom Hynes (Keri’s Dad)
“My dad writing a song is his way of welcoming Anthony and his family to the way our family lives.” – Keri
