We were honored to be part of Marie and Martha’s Hacienda Corazon Wedding. After 20 years together, documenting their I do’s was a momentous occasion!
These ladies have a SUPER sense of humor and were determined to make their wedding unlike any other. They even managed to keep their wedding destination a secret from their guests until the very last minute! We asked them to tell us about throwing tradition to the wind and their best kept secret Hacienda Corazon Wedding.
“Our first vacation trip was to Cancun and we had a blast. We didn’t really think about it at first but later we realize that it was meant to be that way.”
“Keeping it a secret wedding destination location was just for fun to make it exciting.”
“We wanted all our guests that were able to go to have a different experience and the guessing game thru the year was hilarious with everyone always trying one way or another to get it out of us but we never budged.”
Del Sol: Was there a part of each others’ vows that stood out?
“All we can say is that we love the way we complimented each other. Really all the words meant everything to us.”
“To us, our relationship has been based on patience, understanding, commitment, trust and most of all, respect.”
Del Sol: Your Hacienda Corazon Wedding was full of surprises! We loved that you decided to surprise your guests jumping out from behind them rather than entering the wedding “traditionally” walking down the aisle.
“Surprising everyone from behind was Marie’s idea but both agreed that it was gonna be different and fun. We tried to stay with the traditions but in our own way.”
“We thought that we would change the tradition a little here and surprise everyone before the ceremony started as no one would be expecting that entrance at all to see us for the first time in our wedding attire. They seemed to have loved the unexpected and different idea.”
Del Sol: In another non-traditional twist we love that Martha has concha and coca cola as complement to the cake!
“It’s been Martha’s favorite sweet desert since she was a child, always loving the “Pan con Coca” :-) Martha was really surprised to have her favorite treat. The wedding cake was really good too!”
Del Sol: How was your experience with the del Sol team?
“Our experience was really great. Everyone was really nice and professional. Would definitely recommend.”
Del Sol: We love that you had a Hacienda Corazon wedding – Why did you choose The Haciendas?
“We chose the Haciendas, first because we both love Mexico and we love the Hacienda rustic style. It was also a way of keeping everyone together in one place vs a resort where everyone would’ve been separated most of the trip. We wanted to make sure the time spent together was memorable for everyone! We wanted our guests to not have to do anything but enjoy their time being catered to. It was the best service we’ve ever experienced!”

“Every one of our guests were so pleased with the entire staff as were we! The food…what can we say…it was just awesome! Lucy was really nice to work with, she tried to accommodate all our needs as best as possible. The decorations were great. They did a great job.”
Del Sol: How was your experience in Mexico – bearing in mind the current travel advisories against Mexico?
“Mexico has many beautiful places. We always tell people, as long as they do their research and be properly informed, then they can have a great time in Mexico.”
“In spite of the advisories, we always enjoy Mexico. We always take our precautions and things always seem fine. We always take in consideration the risk of something bad happening anywhere, anytime but as long as we stay out of trouble, trouble won’t find us.”
“The Haciendas are in a nice, secure community – that made it even better. Everyone felt safe. Our guests loved it and had a great time. Not to mention, some of us loved Puerto Aventuras so much, we are going back in October!”
