Sol, this really has been such a beautiful experience. I love the story we created together, it felt really empowering. Seeing how passionately you guys work really made me think about downshifting in my own life. I don’t enjoy things as much, and work way too hard. It’s time for that to change, and I’m thankful for you setting the example in my life. I will forever refer anyone seeking an amazing visionary to you! Please tell Pablo and Polly I send my love :) I’ll let you know next time I’m in town and we can go have dinner :)

“I had a beautiful, colorful dream of me playing music underwater. I searched for a long time, to find the person who might be able to help me complete that dream. And I happened upon Sol, and we got to talking and she said “Of course, let’s do this. Now here I am in the middle of a beautiful jungle, and I am ready to play!” – Lauren
The story of a dream that united dreamers. This is Healing Art underwater photography. When Lauren contacted us, we knew 3 things straight away. Hers was a very special project, she had to work with Sol, and they were going to create healing art underwater photography together!
Empowering Souls with Art and Energy
Lauren is a nurse, working with people in the thin line between life and death. She helps people in their most difficult moments. For her birthday she wanted to do something epic and empowering. She had even planned to fly to Milan, dress up in a little black lace dress and black stilettos, go to La Scala – the world’s most famous opera house, and make a performance live… Then COVID shut the world down.
“Classical music has been a deep love of mine since I was 12. I played both piano and clarinet, even through college and got full scholarships. Every time I get stressed in this world, I turn to the classical masters: Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Dvorak, and others.” – Lauren
“Lauren told me how music helped her heart to be inspired, to remain strong, to be able to do what she does” – Sol Tamargo
Lauren came to us with the idea of making a fine art photoshoot that would express the important role in her life that music has. When she spoke to Sol, they realized together that the story was about keeping the soul empowered to go about life, and Lauren was the star.
Lauren wanted an experience and photographs that would combine her dream, nature (because she wanted this image underwater), helping others, and making art. She also wanted to have a piano underwater!
A piano born from driftwood
Sol: “After talking to Lauren I realized that I needed a piano underwater! Obviously, we couldn’t put a real piano underwater, and I didn’t want to mess with the water putting something that is not clean. I needed help, I needed to find somebody that could make this piano come true. I went to Pablo and I knew: This guy can make anything!”
“Since childhood I understood the importance of dreaming, and making those dreams come true.” – Pablo, the piano maker
“I believe creative ideas have to become real. For that, you must create them. I believe that if you dedicate yourself to creating Art, money can’t stop you. There is a deep feeling that you must find a way to make it come to life” – Pablo, the piano maker
Lauren’s Healing Art Underwater Photography Experience
“I think the most fun was just being on my skin, being comfortable in my sensuality, being comfortable that ‘parts’ were showing and I wasn’t ashamed of it. Having the confidence to be in front of a group of people and not think twice about it. It was a good exercise in confidence!”
“A hell of a ride to think that you can sink a piano in a cenote and have a group of people taking photos for you to reflect what you have been dreaming on. It was a really erotic experience.” – Lauren
“Chasing dreams is the colorful part of life. It’s what gives you motivation and the energy to be able to go on to the next part. You have to be able to make time for that. And it’s planning, that’s all it is. For me creativity is a priority, so when that happens, you put the hours in, you save the money, you plan, and you make it happen… because it has to!” – Lauren

Healing Art Underwater Photography Challenges
Sol: “It was so technical and so hard, especially for the guys that were moving the piano. The piano had super heavy bags with weights to keep it upright. Light is changing, the current of the water is moving so the piano is drifting! When I was ready with Lauren for the photo, the piano was not in place so they had to bring the piano back then I had to move Lauren back, and … its a lot of effort!”
“I applaud Lauren because she made it happen, it was cold, very cold, and she endured it with nothing but a sexy outfit!”
“Working underwater is always a challenge because everything is moving and you can’t talk to people underwater. You have to go down and shoot and come out and explain. Change this, smile, I need the light in another position, the piano just shifted away from the light, you have to move it back…!” – Sol Tamargo
Underwater Photography Gear
Sol: “I worked with two underwater camera housings. Polly was my assistant, she is an amazing assistant and photographer as well. She was holding the other housing and lights. I was using a super wide-angle 14 mm lens, and a 35mm for closer shots. I had to combine, wider and shorter, and change from photo to video.”
“All of that happens super fast. I’m not very technical in my head. I feel, I see, I feel, I grab the camera and I shoot, and I am happy because the images are amazing! The result of Lauren’s healing art underwater photography fills my heart with passion and with gratitude.”
“This is healing art, and this is what I do. Moving forward with our dreams, heals and uplifts the heart. Thank you dreamers to give me the joy of making dreams come true. By doing this I am living my own dream.” – Sol Tamargo
