Friends and family uniting, celebrating and enjoying their time together is at the heart of a destination wedding. We often see loved ones traveling from far flung destinations to celebrate, but this time is was the couple themselves who made the biggest journey to their wedding day: from South Korea to Mexico!

We were blown away by all the examples of friendship in Andrea and Ed’s wedding day. We LOVED the album Andrea and Ed’s friends made for them “recreating” their engagement session. Top marks for sure go to the man who ‘personalized’ a picture of Andrea and Ed standing behind a flower covered bush by collaging his tattoo (complete with nipple!) on top of the original!

“The friends who made the album were friends I made in the Peace Corps in the country of Fiji. For over 2 years we were each other’s support. Since our years in Fiji we have been there for each other in both high and low times. I look at this album with great joy. Actually, Andrea and I met because of two of these friends.” – Ed

Another personal touch was the song that Ed’s best man sung during the reception.

“I’ve known Eugene since I was 17 years old, so we’ve seen each other through the various stages of life. He’s proven to be a loyal and dear friend. Though we don’t see each other as often, he still remains as familiar as the days we went road tripping across the U.S. or stumbling through the streets of Madrid. In that song he was able to bring warmth, nostalgia, and comedy to my journey to find Andrea. It was a song he as able to put together by knowing someone for almost 20 years.” – Ed

Andrea and Ed chose the amazing Now Sapphire resort in Puerto Morellos for their wedding. It’s always a pleasure for us to work with Ramon Vazquez and the incredible Now Sapphire wedding coordination team and Andrea and Ed agree:

“Our experience working with Ramon was fabulous. He turned our dreams into a reality. Going into we weren’t sure how it would turn out but we knew that Ramon worked on weddings all of the time, so we felt confident that he would do a great job.

“Ramon went above and beyond to make us happy the whole week. He did the little things like running to Wal-Mart to buy gold spray paint to fix some of the decorations we had brought along with us. The day before the wedding one of the groomsmen stepped on the guestbook, busting the glass inside the frame. Ramon worked his magic and got it fixed in time for the wedding. He truly made the whole week stress free for us. We were also amazed at how beautiful everything looked the day of the wedding. Everything was perfect!” – Andrea + Ed

Then I found out that they had a shop in LA, so I was able to go there and try it on. Even better they shipped it to Korea for me to get it fitted in plenty of time.” – Andrea

Jewelry: Easter Ahn – “Easter is a friend of Ed’s from college. She lives in LA. Easter also made the bridesmaids’ jewelry: necklace, bracelet, and earrings.
