Playa del Carmen Boutique Wedding at the Viceroy – Courtney and Ryan
Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!
We can’t get over the abundance of LOVE at Courtney and Ryan’s wedding. They chose the incredible Playa del Carmen boutique wedding venue the Viceroy filling it with their amazing energy, cute kids galore and spectacular tropical flowers.
“Since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to get married on a tropical beach, and Ryan was all in! Doing it in Mexico meant we could invite everyone. Plus, doing a destination wedding, we were able to spend not just one day but an entire weekend with our friends and family” #TravelForLove
Ryan and Courtney chose to have family and friends involved in the ceremony. We loved Ryan’s vows, which included an Urban Dictionary definition – nice!
“Courtney was on me about my vows for months. I am romantic, but I am also a major procrastinator! I kept saying, don’t worry I will deliver. When I saw the look on her face when I read them—two words—mission accomplished.” – Ryan
“After he questioned the decision to write our own vows several times, I was worried he would wait until the last minute and as a result I wouldn’t get the thoughtful proclamation I knew he was capable of. Man, did he prove me wrong. He does his best work under pressure, and his vows were a testament to that.” – Courtney
“It was great to have both our families involved in the process and it was a blessing to have our sisters, brothers, cousins, nieces and nephews, and best friends included in the ceremony and celebration. The memories we built with them that weekend will forever be cherished.” – Courtney + Ryan
“My nephew, at only 7-years-old, was so inquisitive and tender. He politely approached Courtney a month later and asked how the marriage was going and if she was happy with her choice of husband–completely unprompted! You could tell his little brain had been churning since the wedding, as he began to understand what this marriage thing was about!” – Ryan
“I knew early on that I wanted my niece Alexa to have a special role in our big day. Since the day she was born, she’s been my mini-me. Her mother has always joked that God mixed things up and accidentally gave her my child! I scoured the internet for a children’s reading, eventually stumbling on ‘Oh the Places You Will Go’.” – Courtney
“Who knew 7-year-old Alexa and Dr. Seuss would give us some of our best marriage advice with lines like this: “Out there things can happen and frequently do to people as brainy and footsy as you. And when things start to happen, don’t worry, don’t stew. Just go right along you’ll start happening too.”
We have to make a special mention to Courtney and her dad’s special relationship. Watching him walk her down the aisle was a proper heart-sting tugging moment :)
“My sisters always say that I’m my dad’s favorite. The truth is, I’m my dad’s only son. Yes, I’m very much a woman, but growing up I played almost every sport. I ran around building forts in the woods, and called some of my male counterparts my best friends. I was the son my dad never had. Throughout my life, he has been my biggest cheerleader.”
“Ten years ago, my dad was in an accident and luckily god placed me in his path. I don’t believe I did anything anyone else wouldn’t have done but I was in the right place at the right time and I’m happy I was as he is still with us today. He isn’t a perfect husband, and he isn’t a perfect dad, but he’s the best dad I know. Knowing my dad cheated death once, I was grateful he was there to walk me down the aisle.”
We’re so lucky to have the opportunity to make art for spontaneous, fun and loving couples like Courtney and Ryan. It means the world to us when they recognize in us the qualities we value in our team!
“We are attracted to people with passion. The moment we met Sol, we knew she would put as much energy and love into photographing our wedding as she would if it were her own. We weren’t looking for those posed portraits, we wanted moments captured. We knew we could trust her to capture every emotion from that day and memorialize it in photographs.”
“The majority of mine and Ryan’s relationship has been unconventional. We met at a cowboy bar in Arizona, went on our first date in New York City and said “I love you” for the first time in Las Vegas. After years of flying across the country to see each other, he got down on one knee in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. So, it was only fitting that our wedding included airplane travel and a hotel room!” #TravelForLove
“Ryan and I flew from coast to coast–Caribbean to Pacific–looking for our perfect venue. When we toured the Viceroy and met the amazing wedding team, we knew we found our place. Not only is it a stunning resort with the perfect mix of luxury and eco-chic, but the service is phenomenal.”- Courtney
“We cannot praise the Viceroy’s wedding team, Karla and Tania, enough! They are two of the most dedicated, patient and professional wedding planners out there. They were always a step ahead of us, ready with a detailed execution plan even in the toughest of situations. Karla even went so far as to organize a super hero birthday party for my four-year-old nephew the day after the wedding. He now wants to have his birthday at the Viceroy every year!”
“Ryan has enough going on running a business with his father, so he was happy to leave wedding preparations to me and our wonderful planners at the Viceroy. But there was one thing he was always willing to make time for in the months leading up to the wedding, and that was dance lessons. You will not find a person on this planet who would describe either of us as shy, so it probably came as no surprise that we aimed to put on a show.”
“We didn’t stop at the first dance, either. Ryan insisted on doing a fun dance to open up the dance floor and I’m glad we did–it was a hit and a fun way to show off our personalities! By no means did we come out of it as great dancers, but we came out of it with a memorable first dance.”
