The beach has always been a very special place to us. We met in Ocean City, NJ during Memorial Day Weekend. We had both just graduated from college and were getting ready to start our lives as “adults”. A relationship was the farthest thing from our minds. However the moment we met, we never left each other’s side. Summers down the shore is a time everyone in our area looks forward to. For us, it’s always a reminder of where our love begun.
We thought about getting married at the Jersey shore, but we wanted a new beach to love and remind us of this new chapter we were taking together. Besides, who doesn’t want a beautiful blue ocean and white sand as their backdrop when saying your “I dos”?!
“To be honest, we picked our destination because of Del Sol Photography. We considered lots of places outside of the Caribbean. When we came across Del Sol through social media, it was exactly the style of photos we were looking for! “
Many resorts have “cookie cutter” style weddings which we were not interested in. We wanted to create our own unique, special day. We came across the Secrets Resorts and got lots of great feedback from people we knew who had visited them. Originally we considered Secrets The Vine, but once we saw that Secrets Akumal was being built and saw the photos, we knew it was perfect for what we wanted.
“Secrets Akumal has a resort feel with luxury touches. Carolina and Elisa were amazing throughout the whole planning process. Although we had plenty of time to plan (two years!) they made the process stress-free!”
“The ceremony was picture perfect (it was another reason I was so emotional walking down the aisle!) and the reception was amazing. The food, service and accommodations were beyond perfect. We loved it so much, we are going back in November!!!”
Jennifer: “I was very calm and relaxed during the whole wedding planning process, some might even say too relaxed. The day of the wedding, the emotions definitely got to me. Looking around, seeing all of our closest friends and family who traveled all over to celebrate us was extremely emotional in the first place.
“Jordan and I were engaged for two and half years. There was definitely a lot of time to get used to the idea of marrying him. However, as I approached the aisle, feeling all the love that surrounded us, nothing could have prepared me for that moment.”
“Jordan has been my best friend since the moment we met. As I “tried” to share in my vows, he made my world instantly go round from that very first moment. Seeing him, standing at the end of the aisle, waiting for… me, was a feeling I could never truly explain. Pinky promises have always been a go-to for me, since I was kid. They have been a staple in our relationship. As I made promises not only of things I know that make him laugh or drive him crazy, it only felt appropriate to end my promise to be his wife, with a pinky promise.”
Jordan: Jenn’s Dad is a very reserved guy for the most part. He isn’t very big on sharing his feelings. However his speech brought us and almost all of our guests to tears:
“Although I have had many years to get to grips with the idea that one day Jennifer would find a good man who she wants to spend the rest of her life with, it still hasn’t gotten any easier. I have gotten to know Jordan rather well since he and Jennifer have been together and it is my great relief that she has chosen such a great man to share her life with. I open my arms and heart in welcoming Jordan and his family to our family, and to be my son-in-law”

“Our experience with the Del Sol team could not have been better. I (Jenn) am very uncomfortable and awkward being center of attention. I expressed that right away in the first few photos. The team definitely helped with making me feel more at ease throughout the day and knew exactly how to capture the moment without me feeling all eyes were on me (only some!) It was extremely comforting seeing the team smiling back at us during the ceremony and reception. Several of our guests still comment on how much they loved the Del Sol team.”
