Secrets The Vine Cancun Church Wedding
Kat + Adrian
“We wanted to make sure that people knew that getting married doesn’t equate to the boring life, but more so the fun, sensual and excited level to our relationship.” Kat + Adrian
We are truly blown away by the beauty, fun and love lived during Kat’s and Adrian’s wedding day! We asked Kat and Adrian to share their thoughts on their amazing Secrets The Vine Cancun church wedding!
Del Sol: It’s amazing LOVE brought you here! Why did you Travel for Love?
“One of our very first vacations together was in Cancun, and we fell in love with it. It really embodies who we are as a couple. Our best vacations always end up in Cancun.”
“Cancun is fun, classy, relaxing, wild, adventurous and so diverse in culture just as we are!”
Del Sol: You guys chose to read each other’s vows before the ceremony itself. Talk to us about how and why you made that decision and how it FELT to be reading each other’s vows, knowing that you were about to see each other and say your “I do’s”
“We had practice the typical vows earlier during our marriage prep retreat. That already caused mild water works so we knew reading our personal vows would be much harder to do in person.Being married under in front of everyone is one thing, but have a small piece to ourselves privately is another.”
“We wanted to make our vows to one another presented in a special but intimate way, to one another.” -Kat
Del Sol: Adrian – talk to us about what it meant to you as a Mexican “Americanized!”coming back to Mexico to get Married? Kat, we’d love to hear your thoughts too about choosing Mexico as your wedding location.
Adrian- “Mexico was chosen purposely so that my mom, my brothers, my extended family in Mexico, and everyone else would be able to make it to our wedding. Cancun is a touristy destination, so most people who are from Mexico would feel as a tourist in their own country because of Cancun’s dynamic and purpose of getaway vacationing. They had a blast and that meant so much to me. Having the mariachi and catholic ceremony that would please my family was a big deal. The last time we all danced and had fun like that as a big family was decades ago, so it was very memorable for me and I am not sure when the next opportunity will arise for all of use to do such things. My family was blown away.”
Kat – “I love Mexico. My first out of the country experience was in Mexico, plus I was fortunate enough to meet Adrian’s family in Mexicali, and it was a wonderful experience. The culture and the way family is valued there is very similar to my Filipino background so I was naturally drawn to it. Plus the food is bomb! Going to Cancun really helped us make that final decision to have a Secrets The Vine Cancun church wedding.”
Del Sol: Most people think about the beach getting married here but you guys got married in a Catholic church NEXT to the beach!!
“We knew as a catholic couple, that we needed to get married in the house of GOD otherwise we would not be blessed with the sacrament of matrimony. Not only was it a dream of mine to always have a traditional catholic wedding, I wanted to honor my mother as well to get married in a catholic church. This too is a tradition in Adrian’s family. Adrian wanted to initially get married on the beach, so I did some research to see if we can find a cross of the two: Beach and a Catholic Church. Finding this church on google was a real surprise, and confirmed why a Secrets The Vine Cancun church wedding was the perfect wedding destination for us.”
“It was unlike any other Catholic Church we have ever seen, and it provided the right amount of space and shade from the hot sun. The ocean provided the right amount of sea breeze to keep everyone cool, it could not have been any more perfect.” – Kat
“Highly recommended to order wedding flowers here then have them transported to wherever you have the reception, the flowers were incredibly affordable and beautifully made. Marriage prep was a requirement for catholic couples, which was truly a blessing and made the entire journey greater and impactful.”
Del Sol: Multi-cultural weddings are a LOT of fun for us and it’s even more fun see families from different cultures come together to celebrate a couples love :)
“We are both the first to get married in our families, so it was a big deal. Like I mentioned before, our two cultures are pretty similar and because we were together for 15 years are family have grown together. Getting married as a catholic couple definitely blessed our family, but having a Secrets The Vine Cancun Church wedding was our way of thanking our families for their continued support and love for our relationship. Our families work too hard, and vacationing is a luxury so we made it a point to make sure our family vacation in the best way possible.”
Del Sol: How was your experience with Valeria and the del Sol team?
“AMAZING! The vibes were great, and meshed well with the culture of our people. So glad to have made the choice that we did. Love the creativity and the patience that was provided during our big day. The attitude and personalities of the photographers was a perfect addition to the experience we had for our wedding day.”

Del Sol: Why did you choose a Secrets the Vine Cancun Church wedding?
“We actually have a time share next door at Sandos Resort, and noticed the Vine next door on a vacation one day. It was all on Adrian’s gut feeling. Kat was a little worried because she didn’t like unknowns, but eventually just trusted Adrian and her research.”
“Adrian instantly knew based on the Secrets The Vine architecture, and the vibes exuding from that place he wanted to get married there.” – Kat
“That was almost 5 years ago when he made that declaration. We never been inside of the Vine, but liked the people that it attracted, especially it being an all adult resort. It was classy, sexy and ranked high in reviews, so we knew that was the place we wanted to stay at.”
“The wedding coordinator is great to work with in person, and did an amazing job with taking care of all of our needs in order to make our vision come to live. I highly recommend to at least initiate the process 1 year from now, and to call versus email communication to get answers right away. Also to have wedding coordinator close to home to help with piecing everything together and decrease the amount of stress. The price was fair for what we paid, and was worth the experience.”
“Everything about The Vine was sexy, fun, and classy.” Kat
“Everyone who attended our wedding were highly impressed with our decision, especially since it was not easy booking everyone’s rooms regardless that we worked with a travel agency. The services, rooms, and food were top notch and would return again and again.”
Del Sol: We believe that the experiences we have in our lifetime make us the people we are… How did your destination wedding experience has added to your legacy as a couple and as a group?
Adrian – “I would say the most recent trips to Spain and Greece really expanded our traveling capacity. Spain has a special place in my heart from my early teenage years because of my obsession of their soccer team. It was always my dream to visit Spain, but little did I know that I would be getting engaged in Spain. It worked out perfectly. It was the first trip that I planned from head to toe and surprised Kat with many of the amazing activities. A special part of the trip was that I surprised her with a few friends from back home which made the trip even more of a memory. Being big foodies, this trip hit every component of satiety and look forward to our next trip back. We like to have a great time so we partied every night and made the best out of each moment.”
“We are connecters and we love to bring people together on our trips.” – Adrian
Del Sol: You guys had a WILD party – Kat – were you expecting Adrian to be so enthusiastic to remove your garter???!!! Such a contrast to the religious mass and super important to CELEBRATE with your loved ones – money dance, mariachi and all!!
“It was definitely wild reception, and we definitely expected it. Often times we go to wedding where the celebration isn’t align with the couple’s energy levels and excitement for the new journey to being married. We know our friends and family pretty well, and we also knew this was an anticipated wedding based on how long we have been together.”
“You attract what you are, and we feel like our wedding really captured that. We wanted to portray an experience that prompt feelings of memories never forgotten and I think we did a good job accomplishing that!” – Kat
Kat – “I did not expect Adrian to be as bold as he was when removing my garter, but decided to go along with it and match his actions. At the end of the day, everyone at the wedding were super close to us and we never feel embarrassed being ourselves.
“We wanted to make sure that people knew that getting married doesn’t equate to the boring life, but more so the fun, sensual and excited level to our relationship.”
The destination wedding by far exceeded our expectations. We love Cancun! But I never experienced a destination wedding in my life and my first one was my own. Secrets The Vine was chosen 3 years ago when we visited Cancun for our timeshare (which was next door; Sandos). We tried to sneak into Secrets and only made it to the pool section. It was love at first sight. At that moment, I told Kat we would get married there. Nothing but the best.” – Adrian
“I would say Secrets The Vine really stepped up to the plate and went above and beyond on our vision. Our vision was to make this wedding/vacation the best that people have ever experienced and I can say that majority of our 90 person crew felt just that. I think we literally partied every night and danced until 4 or 5 am, which was a total of 8+ days continuously. Which was crazy in its own. The amount of new friends we met at the resort and the love we got from strangers was out of this world.”
“The love that was in the air was so genuine and authentic and it was due to our long lasting relationship and the relationships we managed to build during the journey. I’d like to say that this trip won’t ever be matched, but we are moving forward knowing we will develop better memories as a husband and wife.” Adrian
