Del Sol: Amberly – congrats on getting engaged! Could you talk us through the Dreams Tulum beach proposal from your point of view?
“Matt told me he was taking me to a special dinner. He’d promised me one, months ago, to celebrate my birthday, and buying a house. So, I just thought that was it. When we arrived at where we were having dinner, I told him “Oh, I don’t think they’re ready for us yet”. He said, “Oh well let’s just take a walk over here.”
“When we were walking on the path, I noticed candles along the side, but I didn’t think anything of it. Then we saw photographers, doing a yoga photo shoot…”
“We then walked down the stairs and I thought we were crashing someone’s proposal. I had no idea it was my own proposal!” – Amberly
“I didn’t realize it until Matt told me how much he loved me. When he got on one knee, I was so surprised that I was actually speechless. I felt like I couldn’t speak, I just was standing there with no words.” – Amberly
“When I finally said yes, I just couldn’t believe it. I was so excited. If I could rank my surprised-ness on a scale from 1-10, it would be a 15!”
Del Sol: were you expecting Matt to propose on vacation in Mexico?
“When we first arrived in Tulum, I had no idea that this place was going to be so magical. I thought it was going to be just another vacation that Matt and I go on every year. However, Matt had different plans.”
“I was not expecting him to propose at ALL.” – Amberly
Del Sol: Right after Matt proposed on the Dreams Tulum Beach, we had a photo session. You were SO much fun to photograph! I think both of you even got a bit emotional…
“Our feelings throughout the photoshoot were happiness and excitement. We just are so happy and it feels like a dream to say that we are getting married. What seemed like a bad year turned into a great year.”
Del Sol: What did you especially like about Dreams Tulum?
“We liked Dreams Tulum because it was right on the beach!! The beach was so beautiful and the water was so clear. We loved how they had a swimming area and a cabaña area. The pools were so cool and loved walking out to our room and going to the pool.”
Del Sol: Amberly – what did it mean to you that Matt put so much attention and care into your Dreams Tulum beach proposal. Including the Pinterest-worthy, boho-chic proposal set up with candles and flower petals – what a guy!
“I couldn’t believe the time and effort Matt put into this proposal. It was so special and thoughtful. I get emotional thinking about it or looking back on photos. It was everything that I wanted.”
Del Sol: You are pioneers! You’re the first wave of tourists traveling to Mexico after COVID. Could you tell us about your experience?
“Traveling through a pandemic is scary, but Mexico made it not so scary.” – Amberly
“I think if you put yourself safely, such as wearing a mask and hand sanitizing, it will be fine. Dreams Tulum was great at making sure everything was sanitized. They went through extra measures to make sure everyone was safe. I would recommend Dreams Tulum to everyone! I would love for more people to visit the beautiful city of Tulum.”
