Hotel Xcaret Mexico is the latest addition to the Xcaret empire. The family-friendly all-inclusive resort currently has 900 suites ranging from 757 sq ft (58m²) for a regular suite all the way up to a whopping 2,475 ft (230m².) The resort has ten restaurants, eight bars as well as a spa with a bridal suite. Active guests have three gyms, an outdoor circuit, and tennis and paddle courts to keep them busy.

The design of the hotel itself is heralded as “eco-integrating.” Hotel Xcaret Mexico received the EarthCheck Building Planning and Design Standard certification for promoting sustainable architecture – the first hotel in America to do so!

Another 900 room hotel, Hotel Xcaret Arte is underway opening in 2021. There is also an adults-only boutique hotel, La Casa de La Playa in the works scheduled to open in 2022.

Hotel Xcaret Mexico uses Xcaret’s ALL-FUN INCLUSIVE® concept means that you and your guests have full access to Xcaret parks, Xel-Ha, Xplor, Xplor Fuego, Xavage, Xoximilco, Xenses, and the Xenotes and Xichen tours. The knock-on effect is that the resort itself is quiet during the day as most of the guests are enjoying the tours. A definite bonus if you don’t want wedding day photobombs, though a good photobomb can be a lot of fun!

Why choose Hotel Xcaret Mexico for your destination wedding or event?

At this time, Hotel Xcaret actually charges FEES for our clients when they choose to decline the photo shop in the hotel. Therefore in order to hire del Sol Photography, we ask to enter as any guest would. We require the 3-night minimum to stay on the property in order to have access and ease of logistics moving between the hotel and the park if you would like to contract del Sol Photography.

Though the resort is large the locations themselves are close. The ¨inland beaches¨ that Xcaret call ¨Caletas¨ or ¨Playones¨ are a stroke of genius. Combining the beauty of water and sand while keeping away pesky wind and (sea)weed, they are set to become the new best destination wedding venue in the Riviera Maya. The on-site chapel is an amazing ceremony venue for Catholic Couples.

Swim Up Suites

Hotel Xcaret has a few swim-up suites on offer. Families can choose from garden swim ups in buildings Viento, Espiral, and Tierra. Some face directly onto the big blue octopus in the kids’ pool. The view could be a mixed blessing, though being able to watch your kids playing from the comfort of your private space is pretty darn convenient. Adults only building, Casa Fuego, has oceanfront swim up options. The REAL reason we are talking about swim ups though, is that Hotel Xcaret offers a category called Suite River. It’s one of the most fun things we’ve ever seen! Suite River Swim Ups have a diving platform that lets you jump into the water!

Spa Muluk and Bridal Suite

We all love a spa, and brides show a particular interest because they may like to use the bridal suite. Needless to say, Hotel Xcaret Mexico does not disappoint. The rocky theme continues with 21 cabins carved into the stone. There is a temazcal, and endless holistic journeys and state of the art therapies to choose from.

The bright pink bridal suite is one of the better ones for photos that we’ve worked in. For some reason, most resorts like to hide their bridal suite in the darkest corner possible, but this one is flooded with natural light, spacious and fun!

Boats From Hotel Xcaret to Xcaret Park

Xcaret really knows how to make the most of the ALL-FUN INCLUSIVE® concept! Hotel Xcaret guests have full access to Xcaret parks and can even the main Xcaret Park from the hotel by boat!

Adults Only Rooftop Bar Fuego

Bar Fuego definitely deserves a mention. The rooftop bar is accessible to guests staying in the adults-only building: Casa Fuego. The bar boasts epic views, and the suspended glass swimming pool is movie worthy. We also love the tiled pool that seems to jut right out into the sky. The ocean views are breathtaking and even better with a cocktail in your hand!

Kids Club, Activities and Babysitting

As you would expect, Hotel Xcaret does an amazing job of keeping kids entertained. The Kids Club, Xiquillos, is for children aged 4-12 and is open from 9 AM to 10 PM (may close earlier in low season). Kids take part in sports, swimming, arts and crafts, cooking, and games. The restaurant by the kid’s pool is specifically aimed at little ones tastes too.

For babies and toddlers, or for childcare outside the kids club hours, Hotel Xcaret works with an external babysitting company (there is an extra charge). There is also a teen and family club, Xiipal, for kids 13+. Xiipal is also open from 9 AM to 10 PM and has a pool table, air hockey mini-soccer table, and tv.

Our top tip: Babysitting is subject to availability, so if you know you will need childcare on a certain day (like the wedding day) you can book in advance, even before you arrive at the hotel, to guarantee your spot.

The wedding venues are all fairly closely grouped together between Hotel Xcaret Mexico and what will be Hotel Xcaret Arte. That means come portrait time, you may be able to visit several areas for couples wedding photos.

Wedding day logistics are a little different from other resorts. Everyone must be ready 30 minutes before the ceremony start time – including the bride and groom. The bride and one other person will travel to the ceremony location by golf cart straight from her room. The groom, bridal party, and all other guests meet in the lobby and will be escorted by the coordinators and walk to the ceremony location. It’s not a long walk, and in our experience goes very smoothly. There is always water and refreshments waiting for guests when they arrive. If you have guests who are not comfortable walking, you will need to make arrangements for them though.

Hotel Xcaret’s wedding logistics are very important for your wedding photography schedule. We recommend that your photographer starts 1.5 hours before your ceremony to guarantee an hour in the room with you. If you want a first look, tons of details, or photo ideas you may need more time. We are always happy to talk through options – when your schedule is on point, your day flows so much better.

The Caletas

While the beaches are spectacular, Hotel Xcaret Weddings have several other epic venues that combine water, sand, and sky. The Caletas have been created by hollowing out the rocky coast to create a series of inlets, each with their own private white sand beach. The water in the caletas comes from the underground river system. It’s fresh water and very clear, though a bit greener than the ocean water. The walls of the caletas are covered with vibrant green plants and, hidden in the channels are hollowed out restaurants that offer a kind of stone age romance vibe. Hotel Xcaret Weddings could have all of the wedding activities; ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception in the Caletas.

Why are Hotel Xcaret Caletas so great?

You are much more sheltered from the wind in the Caletas than on the beach. Brides who want to wear their long hair down – take note! There is also no need to fear seaweed since you are not on the “real” beach! Another less expected advantage is that the Caletas are relatively high heel friendly, making them a good option for elegant weddings. Not only is the sand a more hard-packed than the beach, but the locations are also accessible by hard stone steps, and their is not much walking to the ceremony or reception spots. We wouldn’t necessarily recommend a stiletto though!

Caleta Fuego

Caleta Fuego is the larger of the 2 Caletas available for weddings. It can seat over 200 guests for a ceremony and over 100 for a reception. Smaller weddings could consider hosting the ceremony and cocktail hour in the same location. While not actually on the beach, the gently sloping landscape allows you to get a peep of the ocean just beyond the freshwater caleta. The venue feels open and private at the same time and there are lots of romantic nooks for portraits

Cuevitas and Bar Cuevitas

Ok – so, first of all, we have to mention the WATERFALL. There are not many locations that can provide the tropical fantasy that Cuevitas does. It feels very private as it’s surrounded by rock. Although there are restaurants nearby Cuevas is fairly gate-crasher and gawker proof! A wedding ceremony of around 50 would probably be the maximum in Cuevas. It can also serve as a cocktail hour location, both for Caleta Fuego and for small weddings when the dinner is held in Restaurant Cuevas.

Quite literally scooped out of the rock of Caleta Cuevas is the Cuevas restaurant. There is a certain Flintstones-y charm going on – but we are all about it!

Beach Wedding Venue – Playa Palmas

The beaches of Hotel Xcaret are stunning. Because most hotel guests are swimming in the caletas or court enjoying Xcaret parks, they are also amazingly deserted! Big, beautiful palm trees curve over the sand and the deep blue water is always a winner. The Hotel Xcaret Mexico beaches are available for civil and symbolic wedding ceremonies.

Playones

A “playon,” logically should be a big ol’ beach! In Hotel Xcaret Mexico Playones are actually something even smarter: inland beaches. We are used to seeing swimming pools weave their way through a resort. Hotel Xcaret Mexico takes it one step further, channeling natural freshwater to create semi-natural swimming pools. The sand-colored stone floors seamlessly turn into sandy beaches. Visually it’s impressive and in practical terms, it’s the smartest thing ever. Being at the center of the resort snack bars and facilities are right there. You can still make sandcastles but not worry about kids getting swept away by the waves. The Playones are the best bits of a beach and swimming pool combined! They are available for weddings and are especially popular for welcome dinners.

Xpiral Pyramid

Arguably the most epic location in the whole of Hotel Xcaret Mexico is the Xpiral Pyramid. Home to the the Xpiral Hall, Xpiral Restaurant and resort´s Catholic Chapel, the pyramid has a spectacular set of stairs. Possibly inspired by the famous, mindbending Chand Baori in India, the Xpiral Pyramid staircase is a great photo-op and conveniently located in the center of the resort.

Capilla de Todo los Angeles Catholic Chapel

At the top of the Xpiral Pyramid is Hotel Xcaret Mexico´s Catholic wedding venue. The Capilla de Todo Los Angeles combines altitude, a naturally cooling palapa roof, and a semi-open design that keeps it fresh even in the hottest part of the day. With a capacity of up to 150 people, the chapel is spacious, and the 180-degree ocean views are hard to beat.

As with all the Xcaret Chapels, the Capilla de Todo Los Angeles is only available for Catholic weddings.

Xpiral Restaurant

130 feet up in the Xpiral Pyramid is the Xpiral Restaurant, with 180-degree ocean views. The arches which dominate the exterior curved wall frame perfect Caribbean blue ocean. Ocean views from the comfort of air conditioning are hard to beat! The Xpiral restaurant is an obvious wedding reception choice for Catholic weddings in the chapel above. The Xpiral Restaurant is also a backup wedding venue in case of rain. Outside the Xpiral Restaurant is the Xplanda Xpiral, which is a common cocktail hour location for Catholic weddings. The wedding group normally walks down the spiral from the chapel, however, there is an elevator for those who need it. The setting is simple, but the views are breathtaking!

Xplanda Xerro

At the foot of the Xpiral Pyramid is a large patio known as the Xplanda Xerro. Though it seems more like a thoroughfare at first glance, it’s actually one of the most epic wedding locations in the whole of Hotel Xcaret! Couples looking for a terrace or garden location should consider Xplanada Xerro. With the Xpiral Pyramid and Chapel as a backdrop, it’s a truly awe-inspiring and photogenic venue.

“We still hadn’t decided on a resort at that point, and that process was really starting to drag on the both of us. We expressed our frustrations to Matt, and he began making all kinds of suggestions for possible wedding locations based on Augusta’s vision. We can’t stress enough how difficult the process really is of wading through the hundreds of resorts and private wedding venues available. A google search really just doesn’t cut it. Every resort seems to host weddings, and the pictures on a bunch of resort websites are very deceiving. We’d find a resort that looked beautiful, go to Google and Instagram to confirm, and see that the actual weddings looked nothing like the photos from their respective websites. Back-Up Wedding Venue in case of Rain

The fear of rain on your wedding day is very real. We once had a bride who told us she was having visions of her husband having to usher guests onto an ark, like Noah! We think rain on the wedding day is awesome – but we do also recommend checking that your venue has a good backup, especially if it’s rainy season. At the time of writing Hotel Xcaret only schedule maximum 2 weddings a day, in order to offer adequate backup weather options. The Xpiral Restaurant is one, with air-con and an ocean view – very nice indeed. They also offer the caves for those who wish to stay outside. We were shown an amazing outdoor location with shelter that would be a beautiful backup.

Top Tip – First Look Location

Right next to the spa is an AMAZING location for a first look. Next to the river, there is a huge woven arch with hanging plants. Stone walls around make the location private and there is even a pretty pink boat. The convenience of being next to the spa (and air-con) is not to be underestimated if brides want to do a quick touchup before heading to the ceremony.
