As a commercial photographer, I have traveled the world and seen many beautiful, one of a kind, unique boutique luxury hotels in my lifetime. Staying at a hotel vs photographing a hotel teaches you a lot about the layout, how the time of day looks when a wedding might happen at the determined site locations for ceremony and reception. All of those elements play a large role in how the wedding looks and feels in the pictures.

Esencia – Boutique charm on the Perfect Beach

Esencia is found on one of our very favorite beaches at Xpu-Ha, 15 minutes from Playa del Carmen on the way to Tulum. The bay is free from large resorts and still has an old school, laid back Riviera Maya charm.

The 50-acre Esencia estate was originally the holiday home of an Italian Duchess, now housing 29 suites and the phytotherapy spa which offers Mayan inspired, organic herbal treatments. Caroline and Tyler’s Cosmic Ceremony is one of our favs while Christina and Anthony proved that rain can’t stop the party!
