Valentin Imperial Maya Wedding with a Unique Vow Unity Ceremony
“For the bowl burning which included the silent vows, I took the idea from Alemara’s mother. Every new year in which we do a bowl burning to get rid of bad things and invite new things. We combined that with Alemara and my own ideas of silent vows. We wanted it to be something special. Those vows are meant for me and her and no one else and we wanted that to be shared just between the two of us” – Court
We are constantly surprised and delighted by how each couple personalizes their wedding ceremony. Court and Alemara decided to have “silent vows”. They read each others vows to themselves, then they BURNT the paper the vows were written on!
They also included a reference to their love of nature by including a crystal blessing in their ring exchange. We asked Court and Alemara to tell us more about this unique unity ceremony and their whole amazing day.
“We wanted to make the ceremony unique and different.”
“The crystal came from the fact that we love exploring in the mountains and enjoying nature. We are always looking for crystals! With my love for crystals and her and her mom’s belief in the energy from them I thought it would be a great way to showcase both and provide a spiritual cleansing and beginning to the rings.”
Del Sol: What was the most important factor in consideration when choosing to marry in Mexico?
“In choosing Mexico, the factors that stood out were the weather, the idea of having all family and friends together for the wedding and vacation as well as Alemara’s Mexican Heritage. Alemara says we must have been to Mexico a MILLON times. I’ve been at least 7-8 times but she’s been there countless more, including the 2 years she lived there after she was born” – Court
