The impossible wedding – Susana the mermaid bride and Jovany
“We had a wedding planner who told us: “you can’t get married in the ocean, it’s much too complicated. So we thought, ok, we’ll get married on the beach like everyone else. Then we met Sol. She told us “you HAVE to do it! You have to get married in the water, it will be AMAZING! This entire vision all came about because of Sol… she’s the one who turned the dream into a reality!” – Susana the Mermaid bride
We are photographers, but our real job is creating epic experiences and documenting them. Read about the “Real scoop and what the news media isn’t telling you- Yes To Mexico“

Every wedding is special but we’re excited to meet couples who have a crazy wedding dream. Couples who want to do something we never did before – that most people consider impossible. Enter Suzana – the Mermaid Bride:
“The moment I met Susana it was Love at First Sight. I adore meeting authentic people who have a vision and want to do things differently, something that is crazy to most people… but not to me.” – Sol
Sol Tamargo: “I love the water, any chance I have I tell the people to jump in the water for photographs! The idea of having a whole wedding ceremony in the water was incredible! I could imagine the amazing visuals. Susana’s vision was a dream come true for her, Jovany and ME!!!! When do you get to photograph a wedding in the ocean, with a surfboard as an altar?”
“A wedding in the middle of the ocean is difficult for MANY reasons. I understand why Susanna had been told it was impossible. Moving her 100+ guests to the ceremony location using 2 boats and a catamaran was one challenge. Managing the camera gear in the water was another! We were flying a drone from a moving boat, I was shooting with 2 large underwater camera housings, it was technically was very challenging as I couldn’t really see… Polly was shooting without protection for her camera and as the tide came up she was left standing in the middle of the ocean with her arms above her head to save her camera!”
“I was shooting from the boat, then I jumped into the water wearing a snorkel, mask and wetsuit and mermaid cap in the middle of a wedding! When do you ever get to do something like that?! Doing something out of the ordinary is challenging but we live for these unique moments – the more ‘impossible’ the better!” – Sol
Susana: “I have always loved the water. I’m a scuba diver and was fortunate enough to grow up with a pool in the backyard and the sea not far away. My happiest days were always in the water. I used to hear my Dad pull in the driveway from work, and lay on the bottom of the pool to try to look “dead” to scare him. He would walk over, peer down at me, laugh and walk away. He, too, loved the water and could do underwater laps well into his 80’s!”
“I loved getting off the ferry from Cozumel and thinking, “OK, we are going to see Sol and another person or two, and there was this huge van and production crew! It felt like Hollywood or a major magazine shoot! Absolutely magical. I remember being speechless, and that hardly ever happens.” – Susana
We can honestly say we never experienced a wedding like this before. The ocean supported, connected and held the group in the outrageously bright blue water. Continuing in the way that they started, Suzana and Jovany blow conventional wedding reception ideas out of the water and spent the evening dancing with their Mexican Folkloric Dance group, “Xuchipilli”. Mexicans are known for their Culture #Aworldofitsown
Art is priceless. Uniqueness and individuality and a one of a kind experience are also priceless. That’s what this wedding meant, for us as much as for Susana and Jovany. Their wedding represents a one of a kind unique event – and that’s where we thrive.
“It was a Big Day, an amazing, incredible experience, and I pray the universe to send me lots of more crazy brides that want to do crazy things! Don’t hesitate, overthink it, if you have an ‘impossible’ dream share it with us. We can’t wait!” – Sol
