Las fotos inesperadas son algo genial! Y son capturadas cuando estamos en el lugar adecuado y listos.. cuando sucede lo que va a suceder.
Esta foto del padrino haciendo un photoboom al procesional es de mis favoritas en la vida – por todo lo que hay alrededor, física y emocionalmente. La ceremonia terminó, los novios y el cortejo caminan por el muelle rumbo a la playa, cuando inesperadamente uno de los “groomsmen” decide saltar al agua.
Wow! En mis +10 años fotografiando bodas, algo así nunca había sucedido y me siento afortunada de haber estado “lista” cuando ocurrió.
Eso habla de una serie de “superpoderes” que como fotógrafos documentando eventos debemos de tener: “Anticipar” “Preparar” y “Disparar”..
Como funciona eso aqui:
Anticipar
No anticipé el brinco, pero si anticipé que los novios seguidos del cortejo saldrían caminando, y mi instinto me llevó a subirme a un pilar para que la línea del horizonte del mar no cortará a la gente, y poder tener toda la acción en el cuadro. Ademas pedi a mi second shooter ir a la playa para tener la foto desde esa perspectiva también.
Preparar
Puse un lente gran angular y decidí levantar los brazos y hacer la foto sin ver, para que mi ángulo fuera aún más elevado.
Disparar
Trrrrrrraaaaaan.. Confía en tus instintos, reacciona rápido y dispara! Yo dispare y mis disparos coincidieron con la acción espontánea de muchacho acalorado, dándome “La Foto.”
Cada evento es una oportunidad para usar tus “Super poderes” de Anticipación: al momento (Que sigue después de este momento?) Preparación: Donde me voy a posicionar, que lente, que settings voy a usar Disparar! Tener los dedos listos y tomar las fotos.
Todo esto lo haces, y simultáneamente debes ya de estar “pensando” en tus siguiente movimiento, que sigue, donde me voy a posicionar, que lente, que luz??.. y así por las horas que dure la boda… Que divertido!!!! (asegúrense de tomar sus capsulas de SPPR = Super Powerful Photographer Ready… si ya se les terminaron, pues a poner todo el cuerpo y alma y espíritu en la acción…) y a contar historias geniales!!

This image of a groomsman photobombing a wedding recessional is one of my lifetime favorites. As I see it, this image is a great example of the basic skills (or super powers) a good photojournalist must have: Anticipation, Preparation, then Shoot.
Anticipation
I didn’t anticipate the jump, however I anticipated what was going to happen: the bride and groom and the wedding party will walk back to the beach. My instinct led me to step on the pillar of the pier so I could have a better view of the whole group.
Preparation
I changed my lenses to put a wide angle on the camera and I decided I would be shooting not looking through the viewfinder, with the camera above my head to get an even higher view of the action.
Shoot
Trust your instincts and Shoot… fast! You’re ready for the action!
You are doing all this and simultaneously in your mind visualizing the next moment. What’s coming? Where will I position myself? Which lense? What light? Every moment of the event, at all times, you have to be using this skill set, or as I like to say: “Super Powers”. Is this fun or what?
It works even better if you take your SPPR Capsules (Super Powerful Photographer Ready) If you don’t have them, no worries, just put all your heart , soul and spirit “in the moment” and you’ll be amazing!!!
