Sometimes you can’t control what is happening but realize your behavior and energy CAN have an impact on how the photos turn out. Time and time again we have witnessed brides who simply are so stressed and stop a photo moment so they can run to check up on a detail or something literally out of their hands.

This is our TOP tip for having amazing photography and on how to look good in your wedding photos. Too often we see couples lost in anxiety because of things out of their control… when everything is actually going to be OK. Our tips are to let go, trust people, and enjoy what is happening IN this moment. Enjoy your tears, let’s call them tears of joy. Very often, brides worry that their makeup is going to be ruined. But the moment of him wiping your tears of joy in a photograph is a classic memory for a lifetime.

If we need something we’ll tell you and ask you to move. During your portrait session, we’ll direct you, but in-between times take advantage of the time just the two of you and love on each other!

Be Patient and Playful

How to look great in your wedding photos? Include patience and playfulness in your wedding day mood. As photographers, for sure we have “those shots” which we bust out on every wedding day, HOWEVER – the magical art epic shots often come to us when we have a couple who are up to PLAY! When you allow us a moment to take a breath, see the light, see YOU, and create something unique and beautiful for you. We will always give 1000% of our energy to give our very best to you – when you trust us and trust the process you will be blown away by the results :)

There is Perfection in Imperfection

If you’re getting married in Mexico be prepared for it to be hot, so you may well be sweaty. If you’re getting married on the beach your hair may be blowing everywhere. If you decide to jump in the pool you’ll be soaked! None of these things really matter when you lose yourself in the moment!

Let your hair fly, don’t mind the heat, and even in those “moments between moments” stay connected with your partner – some of the most magical photos come along when you least expect it.

Don’t worry about the weather

You will NOT believe how many times we have seen epic rainbows or skies at a wedding and the fear in the eye of the bride or groom that their day will be ruined. Then there are those brides like Holly and Matthew. She wrote us an email telling us that no matter if it rained or not, she was going to be happy. She actually had her beach wedding rain-free until just before dinner and at dusk, the skies opened and she danced with happiness.

Whatever you do don’t worry about the weather – embrace what mother nature sends your way and remember – we think rain on your wedding day is AWESOME!

Sleep, Sunscreen, and H2O

Top final tip on how to look good in your wedding photos! SLEEP, sunscreen, and H2O. Drink lots of water and stay fresh. This is so often overlooked because people travel for destination weddings and party all night. They get a ripping sunburn and the next day there is a mess… we’ve seen t-shirt burn with a strapless dress and it’s not a look we would recommend.

Everything is going to be OK

Most of this is common sense but just as a reminder, be cool. Get plenty of rest and trust that everything is going to be ok… really it is. Your connection with your fiance on the wedding day really depends on you. Take care of yourself and you will take care of making great photos.
