Tankah Tulum Micro Wedding at Villa Escapar
Emily + Michael
“Since being home we’ve been able to share stories with friends and family of our day. There is one word I always use to describe our wedding: magical. From start to finish the day was pure magic.” – Emily
Emily and Michael’s Tulum micro wedding was held in one of the best-kept secret spots in the Riviera Maya! They chose Villa Escapar, Tankah; nestled on the edge of Tulum and famous for the green and glorious Casa Cenote. Though larger hotels are creeping into the bay, Tankha remains old-school Caribbean private villa heaven. There is a whole host of unique private venues, perfect for intimate destination weddings.
It was always a destination wedding – with turtles!
“Michael and I always have the most fun when we are on an adventure together! We love to travel and explore new places. We fell in love in St. John swimming with sea turtles just a few months after we began to date. Before even being engaged we talked about having a destination wedding. When it came time to plan one of our criteria was being able to see sea turtles!”
“All of our most special memories are when we’re on an adventure together, experiencing something new, and forgetting about the stresses of life.”
“For us, the thought of a ‘traditional wedding’ was immediately stressful.”
“Our requirements for our wedding location were fairly simple: a beach where we could snorkel with turtles. We searched and once Mexico was on our radar we just knew. The beaches looked magical and before even finding our exact location we connected with Manda at Turtle Bay Weddings.”
An Intimate Tulum Micro Wedding
“When I asked Mike what he thought when I walked down the aisle he told me all he was thinking was: ‘I’m so lucky that’s the love of my life’.”
“One of the most special moments of our day was having my grandfather officiate the wedding. Michael and I both come from divorced families. The greatest example of love for both of us has been our grandparents. My grandparents have been married for 56 years and they still have so much love for one another.”
“My Grandparents are the ultimate relationship goals! We couldn’t have picked anyone better than my grandfather to officiate our wedding.”
A Ring Warming Unity Ceremony
“We only invited 7 guests to our Tulum micro wedding. They are all people who have played a very important role in our love story and in our lives! Our parents and my grandparents and then my best friend and her husband joined us for the ceremony.”
“When Michael loves something or someone he loves with his entire being. There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t feel thankful that he chose me to love.” – Emily
“Michael has a kind heart and is always looking out for those around him and taking care of his family. He is my best friend and biggest cheerleader. Being loved by Michael is the greatest gift I’ve ever been given and I am so excited to be able to call him my husband.”
“Emily is the most amazing person I have ever encountered. She has the biggest heart and the most honest answers.” – Michael
“When I first met her she was just starting her Masters and now she has less than 2 years for her doctorate. Her drive to make not only herself but our relationship better each and every day is why I know that she is my human.”
“Our planner Manda, from Turtle Bay Weddings was amazing! She made the entire process so easy. We can say the same about Del Sol. Polly made us feel extremely comfortable in front of the camera. I was shocked when my husband was asking for more photos at the end of the night, he hates photos! But with Polly, he loved it!”
