Can we tell you a secret? We have the most fun photographing brides! Call us what you want, but dresses and veils and gorgeous long hair and long eyelashes…! We know the boys can have all of that and more! But there is a special something about brides on their wedding day. So when we have 2 gorgeous brides – wowza!! What a treat! Mellissa and Negin are not only an outrageously gorgeous couple, but they also have a deep love for one another. Their wedding day was full of thoughtful details. We asked them to share their thoughts about their Mexico same-sex wedding at Secrets Maroma.
Del Sol: We loved your first look – talk to us about that!
“We wanted to have a private first look moment to cherish that sacred reveal moment for each other. Given the non-traditional nature of our union, our first look truly allowed us to have an intimate and candid moment with one another. It allowed us to be in the moment, unfiltered and raw. And let’s be honest – Mellissa wanted to get any and all tears out prior to walking down that aisle! LOL, It was definitely a success.”
“The moments leading up to the first look were nerving and exciting at the same time. We had NO idea what each of us were going to wear, what our hair and makeup would look like. We kept it a secret for a whole year – so it was a lot of built up feelings to that moment. When we first saw each other for the first time, it was a flood of emotions.”
Mellissa: “Negin looked absolutely beautiful, I was taken back. I was so happy and all I wanted to do was hug and kiss her – but we couldn’t mess up our WHITE outfits and lipstick HA! We definitely enjoyed that moment with each other. It was a great decision!”
Negin: “We always talk and share everything together but this was the only thing we decided to keep from each other – which I must say it was extremely difficult! However, we knew it would be completely worth it in the end. We wanted it to be a beautiful surprise and an amazing experience.
“Our first look was extremely important to us because it allowed us to have a moment together for just ourselves and no one else being around. I remember standing there feeling so nervous and excited at the same time. It felt like forever waiting for her to touch my shoulder. The second I felt Mellissa tap my shoulder for me to turn around – I just couldn’t help but smile so big right then! When I turned around and saw her, I just thought to myself: Wow! She looks so beautiful as she always does! I wanted to just kiss her all over, but because of my lipstick, I had to hold back. But I remember having so many emotions go through my body. One specific thought was, I can’t believe we are standing here together and I’m finally marrying my beautiful best friend! Definitely a great decision!”
